RISK AND CHANCES OF ME BEING INFECTED? Please help
« on: January 28, 2012, 10:39:14 am »
Thnks in advance to everyone who can guide me threw my worries in regards to the possibility being exposed and infected.
Exposures-
-About 8 Weeks ago- Exchanged Oral sex and rubbed genitals with a man of unknown status. Also kissed
-7 Weeks ago- Gave oral sex and slightly penetrated anal (only the tip of my penis) for 30 seconds at most (unprotected) and kissed another person of unknown status
- 5 weeks ago- Received oral sex and had protected anal sex
- 4 Weeks ago- Penetrated anal with condom and accidentally broke. noticed right away and washed off penis. The bad part is i did notice small red pigments.

In total their were 4 different individual encounters that took place during this time. Each of which claimed to be clean and tested.

Symptoms

1. About 3 weeks ago- I noticed red pimple looking bumps on my back. One side was a little darker than the other side. I usually work- out and didn't think much of it because it could been caused by sweat.
2. This past weeks which will be approx. 6 weeks after my first encounter and came down with an usually low grade fever that lasted about 24 hours with the use of Advil.
3. In the timeframe of the fever I experienced one episode of diarrhea.
4. Very mild white lining on my tongue as well

The test results come in on Tuesday Feb 1 2012 from a DNA PCR HIV

Please tell me your thoughts if you have any questions please ask me. Based on my exposure the last episode to me seems to be the most risky due to the spotty pigmentation. But that person stresses that he is clean.

Please advise,

Thank you!

Let's keep this simple. Your risks such as a brief dipping in of your penis and a broken condon were low risks.

Nothing else you did put you at risk for HIV.

I expect you to test negative. You should test at 3 months for a conclusive negative result.

Also, using the word "clean" in relation to HIV status is rude. HIV is a virus and HIV status is not a matter of being clean or dirty. You're either hIV negative or HIV positive.

Good luck with your test(s). I expect you to come out of this ok.

I'm sorry the last thing i wanted was to be rude or disrespectful. With the condom braking nd seeing the red pigmentation on my penis was really what put me on edge. Shortly after that i had those red bumps on each side of my back which resembled pimples.

How about instead of dwelling on this and fishing around for more reactions which cannot give you the answer that only a test result can do -- how about focusing on other matters in your life. And don't bother saying you can't do that because you're too worried. That is not going to fly here.

Just do it and you will find the waiting time until testing can go more easily than you may imagine is possible.

Ultimately I expect you to come out of this ok. Now get with other things in your life.

gcjr,

You need to know that DNA PCR tests are NOT approved for diagnostic use due to the high incidence of false positive results from them. If you happen to get a detectable result from that test, don't freak out because given your risk situation, it will most likely be a FALSE positive.

ANY result you get from the DNA PCR test must be confirmed with further testing. There are NO short-cuts to hiv testing.

The ONLY risky activity you report is the broken condom four weeks ago. Your risk from this as the insertive partner is very much on the low end of the scale and I do NOT expect you to end up hiv positive over this incident.

You can test - using a standard antibody test, NOT PCR - at six weeks past the condom incident for a good indication of your status.

The vast majority of people who have actually been infected will seroconvert and test positive by six weeks with the average time to seroconversion being only 22 days. A six week negative must be confirmed at the three month point, but is highly unlikely to change.

Correctly used condoms RARELY break. There are two leading causes of condom breakage, so pay attention...

One cause is not using enough lube, particularly for anal intercourse. You must use plenty of water-based lube - lube up BEFORE you penetrate or are penetrated.

The other cause is not making sure there is no air bubble in the tip. When putting the condom on, you must pinch the tip with the finger and thumb of one hand while rolling it down with the other hand. Once it's on, give it a firm stroke from tip to base while watching the tip. If there's air in there, you'll see it. If there is, roll it back up and try again.

Once you know there's no air present, that's the time to put the lube on. With practice you can do this very quickly and the process can be included as part of foreplay. It's a very important part of condom usage, so don't skip. Read through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can learn more about condoms and use them with confidence.

I have yet to see the insertive partner end up positive over a condom break and I do not expect you to be the first. Don't forget to be checked for all the other, more easily transmitted STIs as well.

Thank you for your advise and input Ann! I appreciate it alot!

I just recieved confirmation threw physical test results that the person whom I experienced the broke condome with has tested negative with the Rapid Test. Showing no anitbodies for HIV.

At this point te only thing that is on my mind are the pimple like rash I got on my back a couple of weeks back. I know symptoms are unreliable but its just odd. Fever went away in less than 24 hours a couple of days ago as well.

Wish I can post a pic of the "rash" so you can see it

Pictures here on the web are not helpful so it's no loss that you can't post them.

Like Ann I do not expect you to test positive when you do a test at 3 months. Your risk was way at the low end of any risk.
