friend with a drinking problem?

Hi all.

My closest friend, who is, like me, poz (and in fine health) drinks daily. It began a few years ago, sort of out of nowhere. Around 11pm/midnight, he has about three martinis, likely with a 60-90 ml pour for each (2-3 oz). So, he goes through a 750ml bottle a week.

I've challenged him about this, and it goes nowhere. i would say that I can't see any "change" in him over the years; he doesn't drink much otherwise (during the day), unless we get together (which is rarely happening now, and that's another story). But aside from his daily habit, he's poz and I can't help but feel that this is adding huge stressors to his liver and kidneys that already have to process his meds.

I'm a firm believer in dropping things once I've made my point. If he doesn't want to stop drinking every night, that's his business. So I'm wondering if anyone has encountered a situation like this; or if there might yet be some medical information on drinking heavily and hiv that I could send to him (despite my stopping calling attention to his behaviour).
