News on Lisa
« on: June 23, 2008, 09:21:40 pm »
She is doing well with a new baby weasel who she has named Mabel!

Mabel is the name of her Aunt and is apparently the sweetest thing who is loving all of Lisa's love.  "She's a mush" as Lisa describes!

In other matters, her computer is  still having great difficulties with the AIDSmeds (no other site apparently) and she is only able to sign on for a second or two and then booted off before getting a chance to comment on a thread.

She hopes to get a new computer soon and rejoin us in the new future (hopefully in August or September)

Finally, and as a heads-up to all in the Southeast of the U.S. : Lisa is adamant that we organize a regional gathering.  If any are into it, send her or me a pm but we are thinking a fall Charlotte get together  - (if someone has a better idea - please know that we are completely open minded whether it be in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, etc.

Glad to hear from her, thanks Iggy!

I am ALL IN for a Southern Regional......we did Nashville around Thanksgiving in 2005....it worked out well, I thought.....Atlanta, Nashville, Chattanooga  (I mention Atlanta because I'll bet we could get Jonathan there) but I am certainly "open" to suggestions.

Maybe we could find out how many want to participate, then choose a location kinda central to all....if that's possible.   I may have to pawn something to buy gas.... ;)

Glad to hear about Lisa getting another weasel, bummed about her computer but I can relate. I would think it would be great if folks could meet up somewhere. I wouldn't mind going depending on where it is, maybe some can carpool?

Just an update based on some pm's.

There is a definite interest by a few which I am certain will be good for Lisa (as well as anyone else who can make it)

The "it" btw needs to be clarifed.  This isn't meant to be a major AMG type gathering but anyone who is within easy traveling distance who can get together for anything from a day to a weekend.

Lisa herself can't do it till late summer, and with the Southeast heat, maybe a fall get to gether might be best  - but that really is based of off general interest and requirements of all who want to do this.

I'm not going to make this a major organizing thing, so if anyone else is interested just drop a pm and I would assume that we would get the ball rolling as far as planning sometime in mid/late July.

I'll give Lisa a call this weekend again and let her know what's happened so far and post any updates from her as well.

Thanks

I'm glad Lisa's doing well.  Hopefully, she'll get her computer problems solved soon.  I know how frustrating those can be.

As to a 'regional' get-together kind of thing... perhaps somewhere like one of the beaches in SC would work after Labor Day.  Rates drop significantly, and by October they're really low, but the beaches are nice (fewer tourists).  Myrtle Beach is by no means one of my favorite beaches, but hotels are plentiful and reasonable.  Asheville is really nice, too.  Otherwise, perhaps eventually we can start a list of who's interested and kind of 'average' everything out in terms of location.
