Title: Prostitute (massage parlour), protected but with hand cream lube
Post by: needclarity on October 31, 2006, 11:30:59 pm
I am not proud of it but i have had protected sex with a prostitute tonight and she used an oil as an additional lube on her bits, i fingered her and she put on the condom with her mouth, and we had sex. My foreskin was not pulled back. She then masturbated me with the same condom on using hand cream till i finished, as it were, i tested the condom with water for leaks and found none. Am i at risk in any way at all? if not is it 100% not?

You had safe sex. You don't have to worry about contracting HIV.

need,

Condoms have been proven to prevent hiv transmission. The one you used did not break, so you were not at risk.

I hope you understand that it's not just sex workers you need to be using condoms with. You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

While you do NOT need to test over this specific incident, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

I have read the condom and lube stuff, should I remain unworried even though oil based lubes were used?

Need,

Oil based lubes shouldn't be used because oil MIGHT cause the condom to break. MIGHT. MAYBE. COULD HAPPEN.

But guess what? It didn't happen to you. You even checked the darn thing with water afterwards - you can't do that with a broken condom. When condoms break, they shred. You would have known.

You were ok this time out. You were protected against hiv. Now next time you use a condom, you will know better than to CHANCE a broken condom with oil based lube.

I am still mildly concerned, can I take it my situation is zero risk?

This was a non-risk incident as far as HIV is concerned.

Just remember to use a water-based lube next time. And of course always use a latex condom.

I wonder if you would still be concerned about this incident if you had been with a civilian rather than a pro. The good thing about condoms is they are very democratic and provide equally effective protection no matter whom you are with.

You have no cause to be further concerned about HIV in relation to this incident.

Cheers,

thanks andy and you are right i would not be concerned if it was not a pro, which is me being rational... i am fretting a little cos i have swollen glands and had a red rash across my chest and diarrohea for a day. which just caused me to worry a bit.

Tell your mind to give it a rest. When those nagging thoughts recur as they may, just notice them, take a breath and let 'em go. You have no basis in HIV science to be concerned. No kidding.

Not sure if i should have started a new thread or not - but did not want to get told off, nark anyone off anymore then this probably will.

I was on holiday last week and ended up having sex (unprotected) whilst fairly drunk with a lady who was also on her hols that i met at the hotel, essentially a mrs robinsion and was totally taken by her - this was wednesday last week, and today (5days) I have been experiencing diarrea, muscle pain, been burning up in parts and had swollen glands - is it possible that this is ARS at this early stage, and also if you have experienced ARS at what stage are antibodies or the antigens likely to be detected?

I realise this was stupid, especially given the advice you have given me earlier - just got carried away - she was stunning and only the second one night stand i have had - the first one unprotected.

need,

Symptoms or the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. ONLY the appropriate test at the appropriate time will reliably reveal your accurate hiv status.

Many people experience no symptoms at all, but if they do happen, they normally happen between two and four weeks after infection has taken place, not one week.

You're just going to have to sit tight and wait to test.

Thanks Ann,

I take it that, other than the overall 12 week time period, a smaller time period after going through ARS is unrelated to a positive test then? e.g. if ARS occurs after 2 weeks the antibodies may still not be picked until after a further 10weeks?
But most people will test positive after 6weeks?
That ARS does not occcur in under week?

Um, no...

You used a condom for a hand job and vaginal sex. You tested the rubber and found no leaks...you will be fine...

Need, that's right. If you decide to test at 6 weeks after this recent unprotected incident, a negative result is very unlikely to change when you re-test at 12-13 weeks.

It's not an easy virus to transmit and it's significantly harder to accomplish from female to male. But you do need to learn from this experience. Low risk is definitely not the same as no risk. You need to get into the mindset that anytime you have intercourse you will wear a latex condom. NO EXCEPTIONS. With that in mind you can have as much sex as you like with Mrs. Robinson, her daughter and anyone else of interest and adult consentual, as long as you always wear a condom.

I expect you are likely to come out of this experience ok, but learn from it, please.

If any of your symptoms persist you should discuss them with your doctor. Nothing you are describing is in any way HIV specific.

Cheers,

I realise this is a HIV forum, but are you aware of what other std's can cause swelling of the glands in the groin?

need,

If you are worried about other sexually transmitted infections, you will have to go and get a complete sexual health care check up. We cannot possibly speculate as to the cause of your swollen glands (if they are actually swollen, that is!)

In the meantime, keep your hands off your glands. Constantly poking and prodding them to see if they're swollen will actually MAKE them swell and keep them swollen.
