Why can't I log out?
« on: May 28, 2007, 01:49:22 pm »
I think it's since I started using Mozilla Firefox as my browser instead if Internet Explorer. Now when I bring up this website, I'm permanently logged in. And when I try to log out, it won't let me. Any ideas? Anyone?

I'm sure once you close the browser you log out
I must admit I to lurk and must say I don't always see your name in users on-line.

Nope Bob. Everyday I switch computer off and everyday when I switch back on...there I am!
You might not usually see me cos of time differences perchance...

It must have something to do with Mozilla Firefox cos when I just logged in under my Internet Explorer browser (to see), it allowed me to log out.

It's actually bugging me less now I know I can just use my IE browser instead. But still curious why...?

I'm always logged in as well, but I don't mind since I don't remember my password, so I just keep it that way.  I'm not sure what the reason is, though.

I'm always logged in, too, yet if I try to post I often get the "your session timed out while trying to post, try again Dumbass" message in red.

Melia,

It may have something to do with clearing or emptying your "cookies" in firefox. But I have never used it, so I am not familiar with it.

I think i know why, it's been bugging me for a few days now as I'm a firefox user.

So try the following
Click on 'Tools'
click on 'Options'
click on 'Security'
on the section that says Passwords you will probably have the box ticked that says 'Remember passwords for sites'
Click on the 'Exceptions...' box
type in the box that comes up http://forums.poz.com

This should then resolve your problem, it will be that firefox is remembering your password so everytime you enter the site it logs you on.

Hope this works

Good advice there Paul,

In Internet explorer, you would click on tools, then internet options, then content, and under auto complete, click "settings"  and uncheck user name and passwords. I almost forgot about that !!

Force a log out by clicking on the LOGOUT button.

Then on the left you will see an option that says "Forever" under your login box on the left frame. Change that to whatever you want (1 day, 1 hour) etc.. Or, you can click on the "login" link on top of the box, and select the number of minutes to be logged in. Be sure to uncheck the "forever" checkbox.

Voila :D

And we have a winner! Cue drum roll............ :D

Paul (Chemistry001)
Your method kinda worked...I say kinda cos although I followed what you said nothing came up in the Exceptions box. So I just unchecked the save passwords box. And tadaaaaa! Melia once again has the ability to make herself disappear! ;)

Thanks a bunch! And thanks to all you others for your suggestions.

I is a happy chickadee now! ;D
