New And Improved Flu Vaccine
« on: September 24, 2013, 01:25:00 am »
According to ABC News, this year will be the first time the flu vaccine protects against 4 strains, instead of 3.  But, there are only 30 million doses of this, so call the number flashing on your screen.  And, there is a Super-Duper dose that is 4 times more powerful, that they say is for seniors.

Do you think those with HIV and other illnesses will eventually be routinely given the extra-strength dose, regardless of age?

Hey, everyone thank a ferret. Ferrets from Marshall Farms are used for everything from flu vaccines to cancer research.

A cuddly, furry ferret died so that you wouldn't have to take a week off work. Make it worth it.

I received mine on the 19th. Not sure if it was the heavy duty one, I will have to check the VA site to find out.

:( Cuddly ferrets.

So, I'm supposed to get a flu shot every year now, huh? I think someone told me this last year, but it's not something I had been in the habit of doing. I'll ask my doctor next week.

On the bright side, it sounds like we get to jump the line for the good shots.

I got my flu shot yesterday.

Nurse that gave it to me said the flu mist (the one they shoot up your nose) protects against four strains.  The injection they were offering only protected against three.  I got the shot.

The flu mist uses a live virus that people with compromised immune systems shouldn't get.  The question really is, if your on meds and doing fine do you have a compromised immune system?

I need to ask my doctor about that.
