First Doctor's Appointment Goes Well I think

So I had my first doctor's appointment today. And it went smoothly and better than I expected. My viral load is 765 and CD4 1066. This is with almost two years of having the virus and not knowing and no meds. Doc says we shouldn't rush to meds just yet.

Did I make the right decision?
How are the levels?

Glad things went well with your first appointment. 

Did you make the right decision?  Well, your numbers are excellent.  So, you do not have to rush the decision.  Since you have those great numbers, you will have to decide the right decision-- for you.  With such a low viral load and high CD4, your doctor is not leading you wrong.  You can get more labs and evaluate the trend.  I would use the time to research regimens and the pros and cons of starting early or delaying.

Many say starting right away will help to preserve the immune system, even when your labs are that good.  Others say why start the clock on possible toxicity and resistance, when you have such a low vl and high CD4.  You will have to decide what is right for you.

I would LOVE to have those numbers! 

For many of us, we were quite sick and really had no choice other than to start meds immediately after being diagnosed.  You are in what I consider to be the 'lucky category' with regards to that.  At least you are in a position to make the choice as to when. 

Best of luck and stay on top of things as I am sure you will.  Today I get my VL / CD4 results from blood work done last week.  Just to put it in perspective... I will jump for joy if my CD4 count is in the high 200s and VL remains less than 20.  So to answer your question: 'how are my levels?'... I would say FABULOUS!

You guys are so supportive. It's really helping out a lot. Most High keep blessing you and thanks for the support.

I also have to see if there's any interactions with Lexapro and what doctor thinks is the best treatment when I decide to start-- Stribild.
