HIV in the Dominican Republic
« on: August 18, 2008, 11:18:39 am »
If you have been watching the news, Hurricane Faye is taking a great toll on the Dominican Republic and throughout the Carribean. My church has a charity called "Rescued by Saints" http://www.allsaintsportsmouth.us/rescued.htmwhich help HIV patients in the Dominican Republic get ancillary testing such as xrays and Cat scans to help in diagnosing AIDS related complications. We work with medical missionaries to help with providing ancillary care. The fund also helps pay for ancillary meds for which the Government does not pay. The citizens do get help with HIV meds but such medications as antibiotics, antipyuretics, analgesics are not covered.

Does anyone know of ways to provide these ancillary medications directly from pharmacies or charities in the U.S.? I know most of us on these forums struggle with paying for our own HIV treatment. But it does seem very satisfying when you can help others when in need.

Thanks for listening
