Title: Time For A New Combo?
Post by: newbieguy on August 02, 2011, 05:44:58 pm
Follow up to another post. I've been on Atripla for almost a year and had been doing great, but out of nowhere, I started having trouble sleeping. Not just mildly, but could literally not sleep at all at night. I've always slept fine too. Not sleeping at night really fucks with your head and makes my anxiety level rise. I wonder if it's the Sustiva but I did fine for the last year sleep-wise. I'm going to see my HIV doc in a couple weeks. Should I ask to try Isentress/Truvada, is that combo easily tolerated? I really don't want to start having to take sleeping pills because I don't want to depend on them, just not sure what my options are.

There are several alternatives that will keep Truvada.

It is a good idea to discuss this with your doc, it might be eg the heat, another environmental (and temporary) factor but you are probably best placed to judge. Sleep disturbances can occur at any time on an efavirenz (Sustiva) based combo.

Thanks for the response I'm thinking of trying a Magnesium suppoement around bedtime to see if that helps me get my sleepy back lol. I'll ask my dr. What he thinks but if I have more sleep issues I may ditch Atripla for I/T
