Back on Track
« on: December 07, 2009, 02:02:15 pm »
Just thought I’d post a quick update since I’ve had new bloods back today.

As some of you may remember I attempted another treatment break in August and it was a disaster with t-cells plummeting from over 700 to under 200 after just 4 weeks off meds and viral load shot up to over 60,000.

Well I restarted back on my PI boosted monotherapy (Darunavir/Ritonavir) at the end of September and nine weeks later the results are encouraging.

My t-cells have gone from 159 to 391 (16 to 27.5%) and viral load undetectable. I am quite anaemic so my doctor has added an iron supplement twice a day for the next 4 months just to try and get that sorted.

I’m hugely relieved that my t-cells are back on track as I’m flying off next Tuesday to spend Christmas and New Year in Sydney again. I thought as I started my 40th year there I should end it there too…thanks to a very busy year on the work front I can afford to treat myself again so I’m off for a month!

Hopefully four weeks of sunshine, relaxation and home cooking from my friends will do my mind, body and t-cells the power of good.

Best wishes to all,

Emma
Diagnosed 11th September 1991
Current CD4 count 484 (26%); viral load undetectable (December 2011).
