who would you choose?

Id choose Giada De laurentiis because I am Italian and she cooks a lot of things Ive never even had or things I have had but with a new twist to it. Her dishes tend to be classy and more upscale than on the other shows.

Now for dessert, I want Paula Deen to make it for me....she is not afraid to use a ton of butter, cream sugar or whatever else is needed for an absolutely sinful dessert.

With this thought, it depends on the supremeacy of their specialty with their cooking.

The BEST Chef that anyone could ever have is themself. You know what you want and how it will taste better than anyone else.

har. I just posted in the ethnic food thread that I'll be going to a Batali restaurant in a couple of weeks for my birthday most likely. Plus we'll get VIP'd because my friend in NYC knows him, so actually I've met him myself several times. Love his food.

  Paula Dean would be my choice...

  I have cooked a lot of Tyler Florences recipes and have never been disappointed!

  I got a great recipe from Giada's show and it is responsible for winning my girl's heart!!

.....I like them for their individual tastes, except when it comes to sushi..I would also have to include Rachel Ray cause she can get some good stuff cooked in 30 minutes...

Great Thread !! MY BF and I a re total foodies and have eaten at a number of Food Network Chefs restaraunts. My choice would be Morimoto, mainly because he makes things that I could never manage with ingredients and techniques that are pretty well outside anything most Americans/Westerners have seen.
If You get the chance to go to his restaraunt in NY, jump at it. the place is Impeccable, and Morimoto himself was checking each plate before it went out. Just watching the Kitchen staff counted as evening entertainment. Probablly the most impressive commercial Kitchen Ive ever seen, it gave new meaning to 'clean' .

Philly, Youre in for a treat if youre eating at Babbo. The Music really puts a 'Grenwich Village' touch on the whole experience. Once it was Led Zepplin, another time the Ramones serenaded us for the evening.

That's an easy one...Ina Garten ("Barefoot Contessa.") Probably there isn't a more gracious host(ess) from what we see of her on FTVN. She may live in an expensive house in the Hamptons, but she's just herself with no pretense. She wants guests to be comfortable. One example of such is that she has no problem with guests who wish to smoke in her home, though I take it she's a non-smoker. As an interesting aside...she's always serving meals to her many gay male friends.

Keep Rachel Ray away from me

She can't put anything together without a ton of onions, peppers, mushrooms...yuck. Plus I don't have that much Valium on hand to be able to sit through her show.

I once tried to make one of Rachel Rays desserts...30 minute meals my ass...it took me an hour and a half to make LOL...but in fairness it did taste good.

I also made egg salad....it was Tylers recipe...Im not an egg fan, but this was easy to make and absolutely amazing....the best egg salad I ever eaten!

Also I made chicken francese by David Rosengarten....freaking amazing!!!

I would have to go with Paula Dean .I ate at her restaurant "The Lady & Sons" in Savannah Ga last year. Southern cooking at it's finest. I want to take Hermie there someday. He would love it! LOL

Paula wasn't there she was taping a show for Food Network somewhere. Yes, Bobby was there. & he is a cutie! I bought her Lady & Sons Cookbook while I was there. Paula's sons autographed it for me. If you want to read an inspirational story, read Paulas biography. She has been through a lot in her life. She reminds me of my Aunt Brenda.

You are right Alan, Paula seems like she would be alot of fun.

Hey this gives me an idea, Lets have our southen gathering in Savannah GA. Then we could go eat at her restaurant!!! That would be a real hoot!

Guys ...maybe some of you remember TWO FAT LADIES....on BBC TV. They rode around in a motorcycle with side car and cooked the most outrageously fattening meals. Here is her bio.
Clarissa Dickson-Wright
Clarissa Dickson-Wright was no stranger to good food as a child. She was born into a home where eating caviar and pheasant shooting were the norm and pigeons were flown in from Cairo for supper.

Her father was a respected surgeon, but also a violent alcoholic. When Clarissa won a place at Oxford, he refused to subsidise her unless she read medicine. So she went to University College London to study law and was called to the bar aged 21.

She practised successfully as a barrister for several years, before settling on cooking as her true calling. She ran her own catering business, cooked on a yacht in the Caribbean and served 60 meals a day at her London luncheon club.

Her 12-year bout of alcoholism, triggered by the death of her mother in 1978, has been well documented. She eventually turned to Alcoholics Anonymous and, while in a halfway house, she started working at Books for Cooks in Notting Hill, London.

Along the way, she also became one of only two women in England to become a guild butcher (the other is the Queen Mother). She is also the first woman to be rector at the University of Aberdeen.

She rode into fame in the sidecar of Jennifer Paterson's motorcycle in the TV series Two Fat Ladies and she was often seen as the slightly saner sidekick.

However, Clarissa refused to make another series of Two Fat Ladies after her co-star's death in 1998. In her latest TV project - Clarissa and the Countryman - she joins her lifelong friend sheep farmer Sir Johnny Scott to pay homage to rural Britain, sharing their passion for field sports and traditional country activities.

There's no denying she's a survivor, and her ability to talk on almost any subject along with her down-to-earth philosophy and straight-forwardness makes her a natural star. It's unlikely we'll see her cooking on our screens again, but she has published six books on food and cookery, and it's a sure thing that food will always be part of this lady's life!

I love the butter lady, Paula Dean. And I like the Iron Chefs. I can't pick just one...

I also like to watch Good Eats. I like to see the science behind the cooking.

I loved the 2 fat ladies....they were very entertaining. However, I would never eat anything they cooked. Frankly, they and the kitchens and stoves and ovens they used to cook all looked dirty to me. While I liked the show, i think I would skeeve if I had to eat what they cooked.
