A rant, of sorts . . .
« on: September 13, 2011, 01:42:17 pm »
I so loved going on vacation to Seattle. Two glorious weeks when I could forget about work, etc.

Of course, now I'm back.   :'(

The day I returned, I found I had five new clients, including one in his early 20s who looks much younger.

((((((SIGH)))))

But, that isn't my rant. My rant is ever since I have returned, the leg pain has been gradually worsening.

They were terrible last night. I went to the gym just to sit in the jacuzzi. It helped a little, but it was temporary. As soon as I got out of the hot water, the pain returned.

I was in the recliner last night trying to find a way to sit comfortably, to no avail.

Today, my feet and calves are aching. It helps if I walk around, so I have been been pacing my office when I can, especially when on the phone.

There is nothing much I can do about this except complain. I have tried just about everything aside from narcotics, which I refuse to take.

So, I will just bitch about it.

Thanks for letting me rant.

It could be worse, I could have eaten tainted cantaloupe. Three deaths here so far, but none locally, thank goodness.

HUGS,

Mark

Thanks Dennis,

I have spoken with the doctor about it. He's pretty much stumped about what to do.

Between the neuropathy and the elevated CPKs causing the muscle pain, I am pretty much stuck unless I want to take narcotic pain meds.

I just don't want to go down that path. Besides, I already can sleep at any time and any place. The pain killers would probably make me comatose.  ;)

Thanks again.

HUGS,

Mark

Mark, I'm so sorry to hear about the leg pain. Have you seen a neurologist? I ask this because Stephen has horrible leg pain and he found some relief with nerve block treatments. I don't know if you have considered this and hope it helps.

Feel free to bitch and moan all you want.  8)

sorry to read about the issues.  Perhaps you need to live a Seattle existence in New Mex?  It appeared to do the body good.  Hope you get some relief soon.

Mark, I am so sorry to hear about this.  The client issue also.  There's so much fucking paperwork with new clients, and seeing what they need etc.   Not that I get pissed, it's just a lot of work, to have 5 dumped on you all at once.

I wish I knew some magical answer for the pain.  It would seem like medicine could have something for you.  I hope you get some relief soon, and that it's painless.

Mark   ,sorry  about  the leg pains...  when mine  got  so bad  I  couldnt  stand up  , one of the Rehab  Drs   suggested  the old  "pillow  between the  knees"  trick   it  reduced the  pain more than 50 %  dont know  why this  works  and there are probably  some  medical treatments that may "kill" it.... but when ever  the neuropathy/leg pain gets bad    I use  the  pillow    trick...helps me a lot   with no additional  drugs

Hey all, thanks for the support and tolerance of my rant.

Maybe I do need hills! When I am active, my legs feel better, When I am stationary, or when I first get up, that is when they bother me.

When we were walking around Seattle, there were times they bothered me, but they were pretty much OK, most likely because I was doing all that walking.

They were somewhat better today, maybe because I was moving around more.

Hey Joe, I will ask about the neurologist. It might help, it certainly couldn't hurt

Nick, I remember someone telling me about the pillow between the legs trick, but it was some time ago and it slipped my mind.

I will try it tonight.

Thanks again, all of you.

Well, no hills here but...

This sounds a lot like what I am going through, and I explained it to the doctor that exact way.  When I am active, ( as in walking a lot) I have fewer problems.  That's one reason why I walk everyday.

And pillows,  yes,...  I have about a half dozen on the bed, different sizes, some firm, some soft, that seem to help.

Mark,

I am sorry about your pain honey; I am with you on the 'no narcotics' thing too.  I would just deal with it the best way I could.  I agree with Joe, see a neurologist;  it can't hurt.

I am not going to take the Neurontin anymore for foot/leg pain....I'd rather deal with the pain.

I have some cream that does wonders for all my aches and pains, muscular and joint....Voltaren.

Many hugs,

Mark hope you get pain relief soon. I noticed that you mentioned that activity seems to bring some relief... so here's my bit of anecdotal/ unscientific observation.  I had  full on neuropathy back in the late 90's (I was on d4t & PIs).  I started cycling each day (weather permitting) a little at first and slowly building up my distances, after a few months the neuropathy was gone. It was very gradual process, not a quick fix. Maybe it's worth a try?
Anyway hope you're feeling better soon.
