testing after 4.-5months?
« on: March 15, 2012, 12:13:53 pm »
hello,in early sept i had a high risk exposure.about 2 weeks later i got sick(fever and sore throat)which the doctor said was walking pnemonia.i took antibiodics that worked really well.then i had about a week of night sweats that went away.so on feb 1 i went to my doctor and took a hiv test.not sure which test they used they took 2 tubes of blood and said they were sending it to the lab and that were going to test for hiv and all other stds.everything came back negative.so this would be somewhere between 4.5-5 months post exposure.i thought i was in the clear.but now im getting white spots on my tongue.could this be hiv related?can someone test negative at 4.5-5 months and then test positive later from the same encounter?because i had no other encounters since?should i get retested?thank you for your time

You have a conclusive negative test result. You do not have HIV and do not need further testing.

Whatever is causing those white spots on your tongue is not HIV. You have reliably tested negative for HIV and there is no need for further testing. Discuss any symptoms you are having with your doctor.

You can avoid problems about HIV in the future by always using condoms everytime for intercourse, whether it's vaginal or anal. No exceptions.

HIV is not your problem. Get on with your life.

I've merged your threads here. As it states in the opening thread in this section, all entries should be posted in the same thread. Please do not start any new threads. Use only this one.

You should stop searching the net about HIV because all you are doing is feeding your fears to no good purpose. You have reliably tested negative for HIV. You ARE HIV negative. Period.

The exceptions for testing out to 6 months are when extensive intravenous drug use is involved or organ transplant or a severely depressed immune system due to treatment for cancer.

Stop bothering yourself and get on with your life. Really.

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results

Yes they are wrong. You've been given the information when tests were conclusive now move along.

Mike, the only exceptions when testing out to 6 months is indicated are when extensive intravenous drug use is involved or an organ transplant or treatment for cancer, all of which severely deplete the immune system.

Otherwise all generations of tests currently in use will give a reliable result at 3 months.

You have reliably tested negative. You ARE HIV negative. There is no need for further testing or further concern on your part.

Get on with your life. HIV is not your problem. And remember to always use condoms if you are having vaginal or anal intercourse. No exceptions. That way you will be effectively protected from the sexual transmission of HIV.

You are HIV negative. But if you keep looking on the net or elsewhere to feed your doubts and uncertainties you will find them. All to no good purpose of course. I don't have anything to add to what I have said previously as above.

For the last time, you are conclusively HIV negative. Period. Get on with your life.

And now I am going to warn you that if you return again about this issue you are going to get a Time Out from the site. HIV is not your problem. End of story.

Stop looking to feed your fears when there is no sound reason to doubt your negative status.

Mike,

Your doctor is not up to date on hiv testing.

We've repeatedly told you that you are conclusively hiv negative and you do not need further testing.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
