Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Can't let go of thinking i have hiv..

Hi guys,

My story..

Sex with sex worker in Bulgari, protected (both oral and vaginal)...

Got a little sick 1 week after and got some antibiotic from a doc... 1 week after that i god a real bad rash all over my body (except genitals, face and palms.) If i search for "HIV rash" on google it does not look like the rash that I got, but when I google for "drug rash" i found a similar rash (morbiliform rash ), but that rash started ALOT of worring for me. And i was 100% positive that was HIV rash though i was not having fever nor nothing while the rash lasted (4-5 days)..

I got tested at 2 weeks, 8 weeks(twice), 13 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks, 24 weeks and 29 weeks.. all 3th gen elisa and all negative.

I had 3 normal blood test and my GP found something a abnormalities with my thyroid but said that it was nothing to worry over..

I've had ALOT of symptoms at that time.. for example:
-warm feeling in legs and general mailaise every day.
-always waking up with a headache (that goes away immediately after waking up)
-constant lump in the throat that ENT doc could not find the cause of (CT scan, cam down my throat) the throat is often sore also..
-aches under armpits
-boils
-couple of night sweats

I've been under excessive stress for about 6 months now and I have always been in good health before that exposure..

6,5 months.. is that as far as I go testing for HIV?

What does any of this have to do with HIV? NOTHING.. You had protected sex. You cannot contract HIV by having protected sex. All your symptoms is immaterial.

Sweguy2,

Rod is right.  Protected sex is just that.... protected.  Proper use of condoms prevents transmission of hiv.  You obviously are experiencing health issues, but from what you describe, it isn't related to hiv infection.  Besides, you have tested conclusivly negative for hiv well past the window period (13 weeks).

See your doctor about your symptoms and get a proper diagnosis.

Thanks guys, very comforting reading your comments :)

I'm just always reading that my symptoms are like symptoms of hiv.. like when I had the night sweats and how my throat is always dry and kind of sore, freakes me out.. (i have read that HIV+ can develop a chronic sore throat..)
I know I had protected sex and all, just 'what if' the condom broke and i didn't notice..
Also the probabilty is crazy small with my negative test,
I just hate not knowing for sure why im feeling like I feel.

I'm always trying to convince my mind this is all due to my excessive anxiety.. and it probably is.

You want to play the "what if" game then you'll have to take it else where. We don't play the "what if" game on this forum. When a condom fails you know it. It's not some sort of hidden agenda.  See a doctor to find out why you are feeling the way you are instead of wasting it in an HIV forum for no reason.

There's no probably involved here. You weren't at risk and HIV is not the issue.

Fortunately feelings aren't facts. If your physical symptoms continue to bother you go see your doctor. And if your head keeps working on you, maybe a counselor or other professional would be helpful in sorting it out. For sure you need to stay off of the web because if you go looking there you will inevitably more to feed your fears with, all of course with absolutely no basis in HIV science.

This is NOT an HIV situation. Period. End of story.

ARS Rash w/o fever?

Would you guy's say that this rash could be categorized as a ARS Rash, http://www.cmaj.ca/graphics/yir07_23.jpg ?

I got similar rash 1 week after exposure for couple of days. Not that itchy.

I've merged your threads. Please keep all of your entries in this same thread.

You've been told repeatedly that you didn't do anything to put yourself at risk for HIV transmission.

If you can't let go of this unfounded fear then get some professional help from a therapist to discuss it. If you are worried about symptoms then discuss them with your doctor. This is not an HIV situation. Period.
