I Told Someone
« on: October 24, 2007, 10:36:40 am »
Yesterday, I had some much blood drawn and was in the hospital so long I felt extremely exhausted.  My feet were in extreme pain and I was emotionally drained from everything.

I called my assistant and asked if she could pick me up from the hospital.  When she arrived and asked if everything was ok, I began crying like a baby. She had only been working with me for a little awhile and never saw me act like this.  I was laying down in the back of her car because of foot pain and tiredness.

I blurted out my AIDS status, KS/cancer diagnosis and need to start chemo soon.  She began crying also and revealed her mother had passed away 4 years ago due to AIDS/hepatitis.  She also stated her uncle has AIDS.

I was so dizzy, it felt like she was driving a million miles a minute.  We drove around in circles downtown.  She told her lifestory of abuse from her stepfather, having a mother on drugs, and herself becoming a teenage mother raising 3 kids by 3 different fathers.

After we finish crying and screaming our lungs out, we started laughing. I cant explain why but we began laughing at ourselves and laughing at people driving by looking at us like we were crazed.  We went to Dairy Queen pigging out on Banana splits, sundaes and hot dogs.

I am glad I told her and feel she was brought into my life for a reason.  I feel more connected to her in the short time  I have known her than some people I have known for years.  I have gained courage and feel ok with disclosing to others regardless of the outcome.  Whether they accept or reject me, at least I have one new friend that accepts me and I feel there will be more to follow.

I'm really glad you found a confidant and support when you needed it. It sounds as if you both benefited by your little breakdowns.

Joy.

Joy, joy, joy...

I've been waiting to see a post like this from you, coco.  You've been on my mind a lot lately.  I just saw your other current thread last night, and haven't even had the chance to post to it yet.

So happy you were able to have this experience of release.  Don't forget to drop me a line in a PM if you need to.

We all need someone to confide in, and really be your 'honest self' with.   I think people come into our lives for a reason...

Thanks for posting your good news. I've been battling some rather deep depression for about a week (first time in years), so I was ready to read something hopeful like that.

What a great unexpected connection for you!

Hi Coco

We all need that someone special in our lives..looks like you each found yours, I bet you both felt a whole lot better getting it all off your chests.

Let us know how you get on when you start your chemo sessions, I hope you managed to get some rest after all that and the pain in your feet has subsided.

Hugs
