Worried about an incidence can someone please help!?
« on: February 17, 2007, 05:04:53 am »
I am male. 6 weeks ago I had oral sex with a girl (unprotected) before moving on to intercourse she rubbed her vagina up and down my penis shaft. I am worried if there is a large risk in my getting HIV from her vagina? I am not sure if she was on her period but considering we had protected sex afterward I assume so.

Is there a risk in pulling out and being slight limp and the condom not covering the whole of my penis as I moved out of her? I am sure the head of my penis was covered throughout the whole time though.

Question 2. Can you pass HIV through kissing at all even if a person has gingivitis? Can someone scratch a HIV person and get it through the bottom of their fingernail cuticles or through cuts on their hands?

Question 3. I have had a comprehensive STD check and nothing was found including HIV. However this was only 2.5 weeks after the incident. It has been 6 weeks should I have another Elisa so soon to check for HIV or should I wait for the 12/13 weeks just incase the 6 weeks test is not 100%.

Question 4. I have been fatigued and have had a sore throat and itchy eyes for the past week...even though it has been stated many time before are these symptoms that could be part of HIV seroconversion? My serology report states that I have a moderately high lymphocyte count and a moderately high neutrophil count? could these be signs of acute HIV infection as I have read that neutrophilia occurs during a viral infection...

I am worried if anyone can answer any of these questions I would be more then happy
my next dr appointment is very soon and I would like to know what I should do.

Thanks so much Liam

As Rod suggested, please read the lesson on transmission.

None of the activities you have mentioned put you at risk for HIV. Most importantly you used a condom for intercourse. That's exactly what you need to do every time. No exceptions.

The fact that you lost your erection is irrelevant. The condom still covered the head of your penis which is the important thing.

If you continue to have symptoms which are troubling you discuss them with your doctor. Nothing you are reporting is in any way suggestive of HIV. That's not surprising since you didn't have anything risky happen. And for future reference, neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever the way to accurately know about your HIV status.

Cheers,
Andy Velez
