Thunter it should be noted that I guessed at his age.  But I believe it to be "fairly" accurate.  As he indicated he's been getting invites to a sex party in Indianna for 9 years and he was 14 when he first started getting them, I just plugged all those numbers into the W.H.O.P.P.E.R computer and out spit the appropriate algorithm!

After much discussion at my math club we figured the answer to be 23.

Damn milker, I'm hijacking again.

OK so.  Sex police.  BAD FUCKING IDEA.  Unprotected sex with strangers WILL HAPPEN no matter if you shut the places down or not.  Being the good little bottom whore that I was, nothing would have stopped me.  Although I will agree that teh internets exacerbate the problem for me.

Aaaaaaaaand unhijacked.

BACK ON TOPIC PEOPLE!!!

As for "education" in the bath houses?  WOW, I learned some stuff there, but none of it was about prevention.  Would anyone actually listen?  Do they announce it over the PA.  "Gentleman, in room 256 is a slut bottom wanting to get used, and in room 109 is a lecture on proper use of condoms.  Thank you."

I have an idea!  Ya know how they have those things sometimes (like I believe that Jeff Palmer guy did this awhile back) where some bottom opens himself up to the community at large?  Ya know- come to the Fulsom St. Fair and sign up to screw Joe So & So!  Here's what we do:  Hire out some hottie porn star or escort to be our eductional assistant.  Sort of a living, breathing sex-ed equivalent of a CPR doll.  Promote your little safe sex instruction effort at your local sex club with the added enticement that participants will get to practice what they are taught on our in-house assistant here.

Work with me here, people.  Think outside the box.  Or rather, inside the box, so to speak.   ;D

Sorry, but I am going to return this thread to comments that IZ said and I will start with the fact that you are possibly the most cold-hearted man I have encountered in a very long time.  I happen to be one of those "disco welfare queens" because I am unable to work.  Forgive me for getting sick and I am sorry that I just didn't blow my brains out, when I tested positive, so people like you could be comfortable disparaging others.  I do not care how old you are, nor when you became infected.  What I do care about is you do not know what you are talking about concerning HIV programs, services and the drug manufacturers and you have no issue slamming innocents, say those who were born with HIV.  How does closing bath houses help them???

Frankly, I would love to share your point of view, but I am afraid there is simply not room enough up your ass, for both of our heads.

You may also want to consider this Chinese proverb: "It is better for the world to think you a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Oh, good grief!  It was just an name as a point of reference to the kind of thing I was talking about.  It's not like I was advocating that we get him specifically.

I'm a bit prickly about deeming people and things as direly "unmentionable".

PPS-  I have just discovered the basis of a rather important new thread.   Regardless of intention, I am not amused to discover that MY words can be altered when QUOTED by someone else (as AC has just done while quoting me above).  If anyone can so freely put words into the mouths of others, what's the point of having a quote function?

I'll start another thread for this, but wanted to call attention to it at the moment.

Now back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Sorry to have interrupted the thread, but sometimes I just cannot remain silent over such hurtful and insensitive comment.

As to this topic, closing bath houses, the Internet or anything else will never work, because prevention starts in your head.  If you do not believe yourself to be worthy of protection, there is nothing anyone can ever do or say to change your mind.  Here in S. Florida we have a couple of really nice bath houses, with condoms all over, posters, signs, pamphlets, you name it, but if you won't read them, what else can we do?  Yes, we could have "sex police" going though the club to promote safe sex, but surely you don't think any guy would tolerate someone coming into a private room to ensure no BBing.  If we close the sex clubs, we miss an opportunity to educate those members who do read the information and I am not willing to lose this vehicle to a part of the gay community.

Besides, closing the clubs just forces unsafe sex back underground, where there are no prevention messages, condoms, nor often the will to engage in safer sex.  AC has it right, we need to think outside the box, because our current programs are not working.  Not working at all.

Im almost 100% positive i was infected in "the club" fort lauderdale lol....got to love that fine establishment.....lol

but i agree there are safe  sex signs everywhere and i didnt always listen to them.....but overall i think that the people that want to stay safe will try even harder to stay safe at a sex club.....i mean if you meet someone at a sex club you would be less likely to "bareback" knowing what goes on there....someone you meet online or something is more 1 on 1 and you may feel more comfortable because of the enviroment.....but in the end we do or dont do what we want at the time (even if its stupid)

Well I see that there is activity on this thread :)

I remember a LONG time ago (I guess late 80s in NYC) going to this place and there was a STRICT policy of no sucking/no fucking. It was not a jackoff place per say, but they prohibited anything unsafe. Two guys were thrown out because they went down on each other. it was that place near christopher street which was a gay bookshop with a basement for sex, if you know it.

I think it finally closed - but have not been to the village in a long time.  But you could fit two people in the booths if one of the "hall monitors" wasn't looking.  I had some of the best fucks there and at another place on 22nd street off 8th.  Like they had no idea what was going on - at one time they had little plastic bags with lube and condoms that they gave you when you paid your entry fee - but Guilliani's (sp?) storm troopers stopped that!!!

I went to Club Indy back in 1998, when I was 14, it's supposed to be 18 and over, but they just let me right in anyway.

All there was in there were men in their 40's and up, I even had a few of them offer me money to have sex with them.

Needless to say, I left immediately.

I've been in three different clubs that were raided by the actual police while I was there.

The first was a notorious after-hours club in Boston separated by only an alley from Police headquarters. In the fearsome moments of the early 80s, when they closed the two bathhouses in town, the graft payments weren't enough to get an occasional police response (or maybe it was the 30 or so guys pissing off the fire escape). As I remember it, the worst thing about the incident was getting a good look at the fearsome troll I'd been fucking once the lights were all put on.

In the mid-90s my favorite sticky-floor dive decided to return to its roots and remodeled the "video lounge" back to its original backroom decor (and function). As I was squatting (and not on my knees precisely) I was able to stand up and close my pants before any evidence of public indecency could be detected by Boston's finest.

The third time was the most terrifying for me. I was in Caracas with my then-lover Carlos (we were visiting his folks) and evidently the police had gotten wind of heinous debauchery and closed the place: men were dancing together. The music suddenly stopped, the lights came on, and a SWAT team armed to the teeth was suddenly everywhere. As we were merely drinking at the moment and not dancing we were not detained. This was in 1986: I'm told that Venezuela has become a tad more progressive since.

If the main topic of this thread is using sexclubs for preventative education, I'm dubious. It would be like running moderation PSAs over the TV screens in the middle of a three-for-one Happy Hour methinks.

And-
As someone who hit the ground running sexually at the age of 17 in 1977, I'll gladly cop to cruising old-fashioned porn theaters while still a teen. The age of the guys I met there was generally irrelevant, I was in it for the easy action. I even posted an article in the Spin Cycle about it almost two years ago titled Innocent Debauchery Lost:

I've been at an after party that got raided by the police, there wasn't any sex going on, but there was a lot of underage drinking, and a lot of people there (including myself) had weed, anyway I ended up jumping out a second story window and onto the roof of the garage, then down to the ground, and I ran for like a block to get to my car, lots of people there did get arrested, but I managed to get away.

Wait a sec....

So the person who was so adamant about not "letting the druggies out of prison" and promoting the idea of sending all of those currently in prison over to Iraq is actually a drug user himself?

I should be suprised by that revelation, but I'm not.

Weed is not what I'd call a hard drug, alcohol is infinitely worse, and it's legal.

Of course I've never done cocaine, heroin, meth, LSD, Ecstasy, etc.

But of course.

So you should clearly be excused from your own hard-line system of justice.

Again...not suprising.

I know, Brent.  It's just kind of amusing to sit back and watch someone do it so blatantly and with such willful dismissal of the obvious!  A person oh-so-ready-and-willing to both judge and sentence the rest of the world...with such convenient exemptions made for himself!  Kind of, my fanny...it's REALLY amusing!  Downright laughable.
