He and partner will have sex on stage, then have a question and answer session afterwards.

I have sooo many questions right now

Are we back to that 'park' post and I just didn't realize it? Is there a picnic table involved??
-
Are we back to that 'park' post
LMAO YES! but we are adding a post coital question and answer session!
-
At least this show consists of twink virgins and not old age sluts. There's a huge audience difference. 8)
-
I would prefer old age sluts. At least they know very well their stuff ;D
-
I would need to know the specifics first...If this guy Clayton was a bottom then I would buy a ticket, and no crying or a refund would be in order.

19 years old + sex + Wumpy = don'treadthisbecauseitwillgrossmeout

Can someone call eating their boogers art? Is porn art? What if he has some mudslide? Embarrassing! But, I suspect the audience this will get won't mind and will be use to that.
-
I'm not understanding how this is "art". Does having it on stage with a spotlight make it "art"?

Well contemporary art has very sliding definitions.
There is performance art. And thats been around since the 50 and 60s even. Yoko Ono did a lot of performance art, for example.
Its easy to crack jokes about performance art being ridiculous and not art at all. Its usually a valid criticism. But a valid criticism by one camp doesn't make the thing "not-art".
Personally I agree with GOgymrat. Since this is a young person in Art School, it seems to be a kind of navel gazing. I took a fair amount of classes at RISD and Carnegie Mellon, so know how class critiques go down at "prestigious art schools" and this person is going to be thoroughly critiqued, trust me. But now at my age, if I were a professor at Saint Martens, I don't think I would have accepted this project or at least I would do my bit to discourage it.
-
Wow! Who knew, I'm an artist! That given all the "performance art" I produce in my bedroom a couple times a week :-*
-
So, what is this then? Is this art? Hope no one has posted it yet. You stick this up your butt apparently.

One of the first big "anything can be art" (with the "right" context/dialogue) was Dada born in Switzerland. It was in part a reaction to the horrors and insanities of WWI, the first "modern" war. Also industrialisation. Modern alienation and disillusionment. And the dilemma of how to arrange society - communism or capitalism, for example.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dada
So one of the stars to come out of Dada was Duchamp and you probably know his work "Fountain" which was a urinal put into a gallery.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_(Duchamp)
One of the points of the Dadaists was that their actions and production were NOT art but eventually the art marketplace and art communities expanded their own conception and "non-art" became art.

Heh. Pretty cool all the same.

Ants get no sympathy from me . Just about every southerner remembers the time they plopped down in a ant bed playing in the yard, one time is enough to insure it never happens again .

..and the thousands of times we tried killing the mounds with boiling water, vinegar, sprinklin pepper on the mounds, granular molasses, diatomaceous earth, and the thousands of Chemical Fire ant killers... all to no avail so we had to go back to poking the mounds with sticks.
