What, exactly, are you "perplexed" about?

There's been a great deal of research indicating that the immune system tissues lining the gut are compromised -- very early on, might I add -- in people living with HIV. Restoring gut immunity may not only help the overall immune response to HIV infection, it may also help prevent (or treat) common gastrointestinal infections that are common and downright deadly in people with AIDS -- think cryptosporidiosis, microsporidiosis and giadia.

Bovine colostrum is a fluid found in a cow's first milk and is absolutely vital to newborn calves. Calves have "leaky guts" which, believe it or not, have been likened to the gastrointestinal systems of people living with HIV. If calves do not receive colostrum -- it contains various neutralizing antibodies, cytokines needed to repair tissues, and probiotics -- they face a high risk of death due to infection and immune activation. 

B. colostrum has been studied, for years (with varying results, might I add), in people living with HIV. Problem is, researchers have had a difficult time getting their hands on a very pure form of it for medical purposes. Hence, this Australian company is looking to bring one to market.  Looks as if it has a long, long way to go, though.

What, exactly, are you "perplexed" about?

The first three reasons that occurs to me:
1) usually, oral Ig are ineffective
2) they talk about a next "phase IIIb/IV" trial, but there is no documentation about previous, possible trials
3) if approved, it will be an over the counter "med".
