Return of the ATRIPLA rash??
« on: July 13, 2007, 05:54:09 am »
Hello, everyone:
I've been on ATRIPLA for 4 months now, and in the first week or so experienced the rash which came as fast as it went within a week.

But now it seems to be returning. Has anyone else had this experience? Is this brought on by anything in particular?

Thanks. ???

I appeciate you replying, but I would have liked more info from you given the alarming picture you seem to paint. The rash is a fairly common reaction to ATRIPLA, as far as I have heard, and it goes away ... you seem to be saying this rash is lethal.

I think Ricky nailed it"  people react differently.  The induction rash may hit a sizeable minority of patients for a week or two, but it shouldn't be long-lasting or recurrent.  My friend was one of the 1 in 1000 people who life-threatening reactions to Sustiva, and you could be, too.

Ok, thanks Ricky and MuslBear ... I will call my doctor Monday. I got home yesterday, Friday, and was a bit alarmed by Muslbear's initial reply - ICU!!! .. Good grief ... My doctor also told me to call her if I got the rash initially, in that first week, but that rash went quickly away.

Now I am 4 months in.
