Title: Sustiva on an empty stomach?
Post by: fine-i-am on January 22, 2007, 04:21:43 pm
I've recently began my meds and I have a question about the Sustiva, particularly the part about taking it on an empty stomach. What exactly is an empty stomach? Does that mean no food and water after a certain time of day? How long after eating should I wait until I taking the Sustiva? Are there any side-effects of eating while taking Sustiva? I think I have some more questions, but those will do for now. Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

Aha! an important question

I think you will find people here who can eat with Sustiva, what they can eat being very personal and variable.  The reason the instructions say take on an empty stomach is that food, especially fatty food, seems to increase dreams, anxiety etc.  Generally, empty stomach means 2 hrs after/before eating.  However, Sustiva works regardless of food, it will work whether you eat or don't eat. As I say it's kinda individual.  Water doesn't count as food here.
