Please help me
« on: July 11, 2006, 07:57:08 am »
Hi ,

I've used and abused this forum in the past to help me but i'm very stressed at the moment , I was on holiday in Greece recently and found a cap to a hypodermic needle washed up on the beach. I know it was a needle cap as i've just googled it seen the exact item. I'm concerned as my 2 year old was running around the beach barefoot.I'm concerned that he may have stepped on the needle alho i never saw one.

Can soemone please help me , if he did step on a needle what are the chances of hiv infection, i'm not sure what to do .

Please help.

Thanks

fuller,

In your thread in the old forum,, you were told that this sort of thing is not a risk for hiv infection.

You were also advised to seek help for your OCD. This forum is not the appropriate place for you, you must seek face-to-face help.

That's true. Get help from a professional person pragmatically. This forum only advises.

There is no reason to reply to this post. You've been given your answers. We can't help you with OCD.

Rapid/Ann,

Look i know you deal with plenty of people with OCD and anxiety issues and this must annoy you - for me this is a concern and I would just appreciate an educated answer from yourselves as to why this is a no rsik situation . I am just trying to tame the beast that is OCD and i will discuss ths with my counsellor.I am not making this up - it's real situation and as such a concern for me.

Can you please just let me know as to why this is no risk.

Please don't just bruish this aside - i wll nevr bother you guys again.

fuller,

You may have had your son on the beach and you may have found the cap to a syringe, but to jump from that to assuming your son was stuck by a needle is beyond the scope of this forum.

Even if he were stuck by a needle, there is no risk of hiv infection involved. Becoming infected with hiv through a needle left lying around is nothing more than urban myth. Not one documented case of transmission in this way has ever occured. Hiv is too fragile a virus for it to be able to be transmitted in this manner.

People with OCD do not annoy me. The fact is, this is just not the appropriate place for your concerns and being here is doing YOU no favours. It's no skin off my nose if you want to obsess over hiv.
