Title: I swallowed...
Post by: livingthislife on January 11, 2011, 09:16:48 pm
I am very concerned. I don't have the BEST oral health and had oral sex with a man about 2 weeks ago. He came in my mouth and I kept it in my mouth for about 20 seconds before swallowing it. He said he was Negative, but I am still worried. I was tested in the beginning of December and it was Neg. Now I am dealing with this. I never have unprotected anal sex. I am always safe when it comes to that. In the past week and a half, I have had diarrhea, stomach pains, aches and pains in my groin area and just a general feeling of not well. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all that you do on this site. It means so much.

You never had a risk. Saliva has over a dozen different enzymes and proteins that inhibit HIV transmission.

None of your symptoms are in anyway HIV specific. If they continue you should discuss them with your doctor.

The only CONFIRMED risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. Use condoms everytime for those and you will be well protected. Yes, it really is just that simple.
Title: My boyfriend just found out he is Poz. Unprotected sex.

Hey everyone,
We have been together for 2 months and he was just informed that he is Positive. I am negative as of tests 3 weeks ago. But since that test, we had unprotected sex where I was the top. When we were done having sex, we realized he was bleeding as well. This all took place before knowing his new status. I am obviously concerned. He is in great spirits which makes me happy, but I am naturally concerned about my health as well. Any feedback and advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

I've merged your threads here. In the future please follow our rule as stated in the opening thread and keep all of your entries in this same thread.

OK, so you know you've had a risk because you had unprotected anal intercourse. If I am reading this correctly you were the insertive partner. That's important because although it is still risky, it is less risky than unprotected is for the receptive partner. Also, it seems as if it was a one-time event. Those are significant factors and raise the likelihood that you will test negative.

You can test initially at 6 weeks after the incident. Assuming you test negative it means you will likely test negative again at 3 months for a conclusive result.

Now that you know he's positive you need to be using condoms everytime you have intercourse. Unprotected anal (and vaginal) intercourse are the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV.

Good luck with your test results.
