You Could be the Next Berlin Patient!
« on: November 27, 2011, 03:09:26 pm »
I spotted this clinical trial and apparently they are attempting to replicate what worked on the Berlin Patient in both HIV-positive people with cancer and WITHOUT! You have to be really sick and have failed regimens and a bunch of other qualifications, but its worth looking at. Share the link widely!

Fludarabine and Total-Body Irradiation Followed By Donor Stem Cell Transplant and Cyclosporine and Mycophenolate Mofetil in Treating HIV-Positive Patients With or Without Cancer

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00112593?term=hiv+lymphoma&recr=Open&no_unk=Y&rank=9

In case the link changes the clinical trials identifier number is : NCT00112593

Hope this excites someone!

With 34 m.  infected ;  1.8m  people dead last year because they don't have access to treatment,

I'm sure they can find more than enough candidates who qualify on all accounts if  they are really serious

This study's been open a while and the goal was 20 participants. Does anyone know how far along they are in enrollment?

I don't know specifically, but as long as clinicaltrials.gov lists the study as still enrolling new participants it is worth contacting them if you think you qualify and might like to participate!
