Trigger Finger

I have recently been experiencing pain and stiffness in my middle fingers (on both hands). I've been told it sounds like Flexor Tendinitis (aka "Trigger Finger"). Has anyone else experienced this side effect? Any ideas about the probable cause(s) - meds, HIV, etc.? Any treatment suggestions? Thanks!

What meds are you on?

My Mom had that. She is not + though. For her it was more annoying than painful. The doctor shot cortisone into the finger, which did hurt, but then later it really helped.

It could be something not related to hiv.

yes I have developed that . it is very annoying ,my VA doctor wanted to ex-ray it. my fingers barely move in the morning .
 are very weak in the evening .
 I think it's the meds

I had that over the summer before starting meds.

The tendons in the hand and feet are encased in a sheath and the tendons slide back and forth inside this sheath whenever you move your fingers.  Sometimes, you will hit something without realizing causing the tendon and the lining to become inflamed resulting in the trigger finger. It's more common in diabetics but it's fairly common according to the hand specialist I saw.

They will shoot cortisone inside the sheath and usually this will clear it up in a week or so.  It may come back but that usually means surgery for that tendon to enlarge the sheath and address the obstruction. 

I got the shot and six month later, it's not a problem for me.
