Newly Diagnosed Question

Okay you guys, I visited my Dr today and got my lab results. I have a CD4 of 380 and a viral load of 24,000 he chose to put me on meds. It will take a couple of weeks for me to get the meds. Should I be concerned about these counts and panic? Or am i okay for the time being?

your cd4 is not going to drop in the next couple of months or so, once you start meds and take them correctly, you will see your viral load drop dramatically and over the next 16 weeks will become undetectable less than 40 copies per ml and your cd4 will rise more slowly but it will increase.
FYI cd4s under 200 may put you at risk of an opportunistic infection. So no panic

Is the bug a nasty fellow : YES

Just keep this in mind for your next discussion with your doc.
