Jan,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you, and your beloved animals.  I can only imagine how devastating this is for you.

Hugs,

Henry

Dear Jan,

My brother had the most darling pet goat, and I know how sweet they are. I am really hoping that the rest of your kids make it. I know how much you must love them. I too hope this was an accident. You and your goats are in my thoughts.

Hugs,

CA

Having grown up on a family farm, I can totally empathize with how close and attached you become to your animals.

Jan...This is awful news, you are so kind and caring and it breaks my heart that you and your family (human and animal) are suffering so much.  Know Jacob had a great friend in you.  I hope the others little guys pull through.

Thanks RAB for keeping in touch.

Dear Jan,

I am so sorry to hear what has happened to your family of goats. What a terrible experience for you to be going through.

The loss of any animal is heartbreaking and my thoughts and prayers are with you as you come to terms with the death of Jacob and I hope that you do not lose any more.

I will continue to send healing energy for the other goats and to help you cope with this horrible situation.

I've just got off the phone with Jan.

They are continuing to "flush" the animals every 4 hours to try and eliminate all the poison from their systems. (However, beginning tonight, they won't have to do it all night long.)

The good news is that so far they are all holding their own, meaning they don't appear to be getting worse and no more have succumb.  Time is the key here, the longer they can go, and if they can get on their feet, then that will be the key.

Simon and Jack are in the worst condition.  Their breathing is still labored but not as bad as it was.  However, they can't get on their feet, which is the real important thing.  They are just too weak.  So they are probably in the most vulnerable condition.

John Boy has gotten on his feet, but falls after taking a couple of steps.

Jenny appears to be doing the best, either because she didn't eat as much, or the poison has had less of an impact on her system.  When the vet was by this morning she did caution Jan that there could be a delayed reaction.  Meaning she could be fine one minute and then take a sudden turn for the worse.

I think we all remember how sick Jacob was when he was a youngster, perhaps that made him more fragile and vulnerable.

The thing that is breaking her heart is that they have moved the goats to the paddock closest to the house, and she can hear them crying out in pain.  She is devastated knowing there isn't more she can do for them.

All of you know how deeply touched she will be when she has the chance to read this.  Right now Jan is totally focused on doing whatever she can to help the goats get better.  She hopes to check in either tomorrow or the next day to thank all of you for your kindness and love, because "just knowing it's there has given me  a lot of comfort and strength."

Jan, you've got our love and support.

Thank you very much for the update, RAB.

I had to put my dog down in April, and before that incident, I have never heard of this poem.  It has given me great comfort to think of my pet in this place, knowing that she's waiting for me.  Those of you who have lost a pet before will surely understand.

This is for you, Jan, to help you with your loss of Jacob.  I hope you find comfort in reading this.  Perhaps you'll want to print it out and keep it next to a picture of him.  That's what I've done, I have this poem next to Casie's collar.

Ray  :'(

Hi Jan,

I know you have so much going on right now...but Ray is absolutely right.  If you havent already, someone should get in touch with the local authorities.  Maybe they cant do anything, but at the very least this incident will go on record.

I am so sorry this happened to your goats and we all know you are doing absolutely everything in your power to be there for them and help them recover. I am sending only the very best thoughts your way. Also, dont forget to take care of yourself as well.

People like the ones who dumped those leaves should be wiped off the face of the Earth - preferably as painfully and inhumanely as possible. A slow, painful death is the only thing they deserve - and even that might be too good for them.

Sorry, I lost a puppy due to some asswipe throwing something over the fence - only in my case, it was rat poison. The puppy was only 6 months to a year old. Therefore, I do feel for you, Jan.

I feel that animals are so very dependent upon us.  The unconditional love they give back to us is immeasurable, in my opinion.

I took my dog to the vets today for grooming, and there was a gentleman with an older goat out front.  I immediately thought of you, Jan.  I hope you and your kids are getting some relief.

Praying for You,

Hi

I just wanted to bump this thread to tell you about the photo's that Basquo posted.

The first one is Curtis and my little boy Jacob having a conversation..he always paid attention when anyone spoke to him, he was always inquisitive and love being the center of attention.

The second one is also Jacob..he was always first in line when there was food around..he loved company and had such a gentle personality....I miss him so much.

Thanks Basquo for posting those wonderful photo's.

Hugs

Just a little update message I received from Jan this morning.

Apparently Jack-goat was up on his feet briefly. A most auspicious thing, given how ill he's been. Janno assures me that she's a "very happy little vegemite" today.
