bit225 as a component of cure strategy?

Hi all, new here. Just wanted to highlight some incredible work by the biotron company in australia with a compound called bit225. It is a viroporin inhibitor which is like a molecule channel used to convey molecules between cells. It also has something to do with the VPU gene of hiv. It also inhibits hep C and was recently clinically trialled and had a 100% hep C cure rate when added to existing approved treatments.

The exciting thing about bit225 is that it works against macrophage tropic virus and since it is a small molecule it can cross the brain-blood barrier. It has been found that macrophage tropic virus in the brain is a source of reservoir replenishment an has a long half life. bit225 may be crucial in the cure effort since it can block replication in the brain an central nervous system. It may also be a potential treatment for hiv related dementia.

I never hear about bit225 on forums or hiv website news sites and i'm surprised. It might be the key to the cure. bit225 is going into a phase 2b trial for hiv an into phase 3 for hepatitis c. I expect it to reach market. Hopefully soon, perhaps within a year or two? Hope this interests you all. thanks
