Worrying Tears U Up ..Just Find Out - My Story
« on: March 24, 2009, 12:36:26 pm »
Hi Guys and Gals,

I wanted to tell everyone my story. I had slept with around 50 people (dont judge me lol, 90% of them were one night stands). This was over the course of 4 years or so. I was REALLY worried about HIV. It got to a point where I couldn't eat, sleep, or concentrate. I was seeing spots all over my body and I thought I had Karposi Sarcoma. I would meet guys and ladies online (where I told everyone my status was negative) and sleep with them. I was SURE I had HIV and the mind can play terrible tricks on you. Everytime I would come down with the common cold I would think that it was caused by a weakened immune system.
I even avoided giving blood or plasma because I thought that I would find out my status. I was REALLY scared and it was always in the back of my mind...ALWAYS...

I started researching HIV and I found out that I would have a relatively long life span if I started meds on time and continued to keep myself healthy. I went to take the oral test (with results in 20 minutes) and it was an excruitiating amount of time....I came out NEGATIVE....I did a blood test as well...I came out NEGATIVE....I always used condoms with any sexual experience....

If you have HIV, your status is NOT going to change by you not going to take the test...you are just shortening your life....KNOW YOUR STATUS!!

Fortunate that you have tested negative. That result is only reliable if it is from a test taken at 13 weeks after your most recent unprotected incident.

You haven't indicated if you had unprotected intercourse. Assuming you did, unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse are the only really confirmed risks for HIV transmission. You can have sex with as many people as you want to and regardless of their HIV status, as long as you do it the safer way. That means whoever is the insertive partner always needs to be wearing a condom. No exceptions.

We also suggest that anyone who's sexually active ought to regularly have a full STD panel done at least once a year. Other STDs are much easier to acquire than HIV.

Cheers.
