Benj,

I can assure you I was not quoting Jesus, I've never heard him say anything.

It's just my aim in life to try to treat people as I'd like to be treated.  I just think it's a good idea.  And I know I've not always succeeded in this attempt.

And it's great that you have a dozen friends that know how you like to be treated and oblige you.

I don't have a dozen friends, and I'm sure you can tell me why.

You're very young and attractive, it isn't surprising that you'd have a dozen friends.

It also seems apparent that you and I most likely won't ever end up being friends, that's okay.

I would only wish you well just as I'd wish anyone well!

Sincerely,
Scott

I have no idea what flamebaiting is, and I don't care.

It's obvious you're a fan of Benj's, and you don't like me.  That's okay.

Can I just say how bored I am with this now?

It's distracting me from thinking about how pretty I am.

I urge anyone who is being flamebaited to simply report the offender, rather than engage tem.

Good point... but I really didn't feel like I was being flame-baited, really... just given a bunch of grief as a result of ignorance.

Flamebaiting is posting comments meant to arouse ugly dialogues...kinda like the way this one's gone. It's posting provocations meant to cause pain or harm.

Why don't you post an introduction thread in the Living Forum? It's the preferred way to get acquainted.

If anyone feels the need to report me, that's just fine by me.  I'm quite certain that all I've done is express myself and I've done it without using profanity.

I appreciation the hand Brent, but I don't feel the need to post in the introduction thread.  I guess I wasn't aware of the preferred way of doing things.

It seems like I've been accused of tearing people apart, cussed at, and then told what I should be doing.

I guess it's only okay to tear Scott apart, apparently!

Perhaps, it's just okay to treat the new guy in such a manner.

I won't change my dialogue to be in anyone's favor, I've never lived my life that way and i won't start now.

And as far as being accused of being ignorant, Benji, I'll just consider the source.

Please feel free to cc this message to anyone that you feel the need to cc this message to.  I'm guessing there must be a support group for people that get kicked out of this support group somewhere.

I thought I'd throw in my two cents.  I read your own tale of how your neighbor came over, and you ignored him because you weren't in the mood, and you didn't tell him this is how you felt.

So, it's ironic when you write:"The walkway leading into Lois Love's home was an unrestricted path for vagrants, vandals and trespassers, but it was also an open invitation to neighbors, friends, and her community.

Apparently the walkway into your home is not an open invitation, and as you've pointed out particularly when Law & Order is being aired.

What in the Sam Hill is that about?  Why are you bringing up a totally unrelated topic in this thread?  Post it in the appropriate thread, please.   What benj wrote for his friend's class assignment has ziclh to do with how he reacted to someone who dropped in without asking if his company was wanted.  Aupoint's gotten enough grief in this thread already without tossing more gasoline on the flames.

This must be National Pick on Aupointillimite Week and I missed the announcement.

Just to swing this back to the original topic for a sec.   So AUP. 1) helped his friend out, 2) had his writing critiqued by a college level instructor and praised as an example and c)  got a warm fuzzy feeling about the whole deal which is always nice . now Notwithstanding the fact that this chick later drowned a mouse in the shitter (keep up people )  This is the Feel Good Post of the week.

I don't see my initial post as being totally unrelated in the least.

ACinKC, am I supposed to be frightened?

Benj can say that his roommate has written something boring, and can proudly state how he ignored his neighbor, yet it is I who tears into people.  So, since Benj has done something good, he isn't being critical calling his roommate's piece boring, in fact I think there was another descriptive word in front of boring.

Then of course, there are the people here that can accuse Benj of plaigarism or being a cheater, and I've not even commented on that.  While another condones his actions as he has done group work in shcool and things it's great to help others.  Well, if the professor has asked that you do group work, then doing group work would be fine, but if the professor has not asked for a group project, then getting someone to write your paper would be cheating.  So, I guess I'd have to say that your roommate is the one that cheated.  Now she did have your permission to use your words, but I'm guessing she didn't give you credit in her paper, is that plaigarism, well according to the dictionary it is.  Is this on topic enough for those of you in the topic police?

I actually have the video where she's drowning the mouse, and you can hear my girlish screams of horror.

And I don't know why last night's video got the sound knocked out of synch.  It played back totally fine on my computer.  Odd.

But yes... it was truly horrifying.  She held it down with a broom.

I don't see my initial post as being totally unrelated in the least.

You made a vague (at best) connection between a headline written for someone else and a previous post of benj's in which he described an incident in which an uninvited guest dropped in without the courtesy of calling beforehand.  No one said his drop-in friend should be crucified, some just agreed we don't like people to visit us without calling ahead to see if we'd like company.  Is that so bad?

The "uninvited guest" post/thread is totally unrelated to this thread.  You are inferring something about benj based on these 2 posts, which is your prerogative, but there was no need for you to link them in this thread.

Quote
Benj can say that his roommate has written something boring, and can proudly state how he ignored his neighbor,

So benj is a mean, uncaring person?

Liz probably agrees her piece was boring.  You seem to think benj let down someone in need or betrayed his drop-in friend when there is no reason to draw such conclusions.  You link this thread and the drop-in thread and compare benj's headline, written for Liz, and benj's behavior toward the uninvited friend as proving a point.   This is the type of conjecture one doesn't need to post because it is a personal attack.

I am not criticizing linking 2 different topics to draw a conclusion, I simply think such conclusions should remain personal or be expressed privately.  Personal criticism isn't suitable for a public thread.  As in any public place, one's reactions to other people vary from person to person but to maintain civility one doesn't publicly express disdain for another.  One keeps it to oneself or shares it with friends, and may even tell the offending person one to one, but that's as far as one should go.

If benj were writing racist or sexist or heterophobic posts I might jump in with my opinion of his views, but then the argument would be about thoughts and beliefs, not personal characteriscs.

Yes you should be afraid!  (not sure where that came from but i'll play along.)  YOU SHOULD BE VERY AFRAID!

You were just rude thats all.  Its ok to be rude.  Benj has done it and I have done it and now, so have you.  So lets just get past this little tiff, it really is doing no good.  We can all unbunch the panties and start again by telling The pointed one how brilliant his writing was and CONGRATS on the commendations from the esteemed Professor.  (Is this a professor at a nationally ranked and recognized school?  One ponders....)

The illiteracy police are mostly satisfied.   Would have to give you an overall grade of B though.  Due to a couple of spelling errors in paragraph 2.  But your penmanship and your articulated thought process is very well developed.
