Hi,
I am 32 years married male with 2 kids.
About 4 weeks back, I was in China and for the first time in my life, I met a prostitude, My biggest mistake of life.
She gave me hand job using body lotion and during this, she fingered my anus 7-8 times.
I am not sure about her HIV status, or whether she had cut/bruises in her hand.
after 3 weeks, I had got cold that lasted for 2 days and soar throat for about 4 days. Soar throat was not very bad. I haven't got any fever, bodyache or inflamed lumph nodes but i have mild pain in left of my neck for last 2 days.

Kindly help me answer belwo questions:
1. What are the chances of me getting HIV based on above.
2. Should I go for a test?
3. Can 1 get hiv from handjob and finger inserting if there is a cut in hand?
4. What if there are few cuts/bruises on her hand.

I would be really greatful for your kind reply.

There was absolutely no risk for HIV transmission in the incident about which you are concerned. Period. End of story. And no need for HIV testing or further worry.

Guilt and anxiety are a whole other matter and you seem to be riddled with that right now. You're a dog like the rest of us so you went straying. You can't undo that. See it, accept it, take a breath and let it go. That's the most loving thing you can do for all concerned. Really.

One last thing, I am having a dull shoulder pain and have light sore throat for the last 5 days.
Just anxious, is it related to the incident that I shared above, by any chance.

I am really concerned what if the pros had cuts on her hand.

Are you listening? How many ways do I need to say YOU WERE NOT AT RISK IN ANY WAY FOR HIV TRANSMISSION during the incident you're concerned about. No, not if she had nicks or cuts on her hand or anything else your mind throws into the mix.

Right now you are (mis)interpreting every physical event such as your shoulder and whatever else through an HIV jitters mindset. You have no basis in HIV science for this of course. But a guilt-ridden hubby can always find more to worry about.

This is not an HIV situation no matter what spin you put on it. If you have any physical problems discuss them with your doctor.

Dear Andy,

I went to see doctor today at your advise.
He told me that I have Throat infection and I have swolen Lymph Nodes at my right shoulder that is causing pain in Shoulder and Neck.
I am really scared. Are there any chances to getting HIV Transmission through Handjob and Getting fingered if prostitue waas HIV+.
I am sorry to bother you but I am really scared and confused. Not sure what to do.

Do i qualify for HIV test

We don't seem to be getting though to you. Neither getting a handjob nor fingering are risks for hiv infection - even if the other person is hiv positive. You did not have a risk and you do not need to test.

You've been diagnosed with a simple throat infection. They happen to us all. Follow your doctor's directions and you'll be fine in no time.

You did NOT have a risk for hiv infection. None at all. No way.

Dear Ann and Andy,

My soar throat is better but lymph node has not become normal yet. 70% reduced and it is really worrysome. I have to see doctor tomorrow again and I am really scared.

My major worry is not handjob, I am really concerned about finguring. I have read at different sites that mucus membrane of rectum can be easily torn and it absorbs blood from other person's cuts on fingures. Please let me know is it true and if yes, under what circumstances.

I am worried not for myself but for my family members, if God forbid something happens to me, who will take care of them. This deep anxiety has caused me lot of problems emotionally as well as physically.

You are my only hope as I can't discuss it with someone else.

AND...it still doesn't seem to be getting through to you. We can't do therapy with you here. We can only evaluate potential risks. You were not at risk no matter what your head and your guilty conscience tell you to the contrary. Find yourself a counselor or therapist where you can discuss your issues in private. We can't serve that need for you.

All I can repeat emphatically is that th is NOT an HIV situation. Period. End of story.

You need to work at getting on with your life. Really.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend you.
just wanted to clear last doubt because I am not sure whether lasy had any fresh cuts/sore in her hand that she used.
Also, does it require fresh blood dripping etc. to transmit infection during finguring.

I have read at Dr. bob's forum that finguring is safe as long as skin is intact. This is my last question.

Fingering is not a risk for HIV transmission unless possibly you have a significant immediately open wound into which HIV+ blood is pouring. Was that your incident? No?
I didn'think so. You are worrying needlessly no matter what nicks, bruises, cuts, sores or other may have been involved.

I had a question. Please help reply.

If someone is infected, how long does it take for a person to show Symptoms if these are really ARS symptomse.g. 2, weeks, 4 weeks etc.
I believe it will help many who keep getting freaked out every now an dthen whenever anything physical happens to them.

Is Soar Throat for a long time e.g. 2 Weeks+ a symptom of ARS. I have been taking antibiotics for the alst 2 weeks but sor throat improved initially and it is back aging for the last 1 week.

Symptoms or even the lack of symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. Only testing will reliably reveal your hiv status.

You did not have a risk - as you have been repeatedly told - and therefore you do not need testing over this specific incident. If you're sexually active, then you should have a routine sexual health care check up, including but not limited to hiv testing. But if this the only sexual experience you ever had, you don't need testing at all.

You have not had a risk for hiv infection in your experience with the sex worker. None whatsoever, by any stretch of the imagination.

See your doctor about your physical problems - we cannot help you with that here.

Sorry to bother again. Your advise and judgement is highly respected but I am extremely tensed about being infected.
due to this, I have planned to go for a test soon so that I could finish my anxiety and go on with life without stress.
I am really scared as I have a swollen lymph node in neck area only, no fever/rash at all.
Can you please tell me what are my chances of being negative.

Even in the unlikely event that your lymph node swelled to the size of your head, that is not going to change anything that we've said to you.

You weren't at risk for transmission. PERIOD! REALLY!

And a persistently swollen lymph node is not an HIV specific symptom.

What we're really talking about here is guilt because you strayed and anxiety about that. THIS IS NOT AN HIV SITUATION.

Go ahead and test and collect the inevitable negative result. Maybe THAT will convince you that you're HIV negative.
