Okie dokie.

You've had unprotected vaginal intercourse and that is indeed a risk for HIV transmission. But, it's a very, very low risk. HIV is a fragile virus which is difficult to transmit, especially from female to male. So you do need to test at 12 weeks from the date of this encounter but the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour. I expect that you will test negative for HIV.

HIV is, however, not the only thing you need to be worried about. STDs such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea are much more prevalent and transmissible than HIV and so you would be wise to have a full STD screen done. A full STD screen will include, but is not limited to, an HIV antibody test.

You can make the arrangements for this at your nearest GUM clinic.

You would be wise to remember that mixing booze and casual shagging is not a good idea. Not only can it lead to silly things like unprotected fucking, it will leave you with a reputation as being a dud in bed. You'll find that you perform much better (and more safely) when you're not bladdered.

At this point it is both my honour and my obligation to direct your attention to our Welcome Thread where you can follow the links to our Lessons to learn more about how HIV is and is not transmitted.

I should add that the oral sex you had is not a risk for HIV transmission. Not her blowing you, nor you munching on her minge.

Unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse are THE high risk factors sexually for HIV transmission.

But, with having said that for several reasons your situation does not fall into the high risk category. HIV is a fragile virus that is significantly harder to accomplish from female to male. Penetration was apparently very brief in this single event. It is unlikely your penis reached up into the cervical area, which is where contact with the fluids most likely to contain HIV are present.

Taking all of that into consideration the likelihood of transmission, if the woman was even HIV+, I would still expect you to test negative.

You do need to learn from this experience. Low risk is not the same as no risk. You can as much intercourse as you like with as many partners regardless of their HIV status. BUT, you must wear a condom everytime. No exceptions. Then you're covered, literally and figuratively as far as HIV is concerned.

jon,

Matty already suggested you test in three month's time. Anyone who is sexually active should be getting a routine sexual health check-up at least once a year anyway, so consider it your annual check-up. Don't forget to test for all the other STIs as they are MUCH more easily transmitted than hiv.

I fully expect you to test negative, but the only way to accurately know your hiv status is through testing.

No that doesn't mean that at all. You're infections whether antibodies are detectable or not.

No, those skin irritations wouldn't have made you more vulnerable to transmission. Totally irrelevant.

i have read a couple of threads on condom breakage where people have had unprotected sex for a short time,in these ann says she hasnt heard of a transmission through condom breakage so risk is extremely low but not no risk, would i be right in thinking that my exposure was on the same risk scale as this?

jon,

Yes, that's correct, but you still need to test at the appropriate time.
