My story and hopes for a New Year
« on: December 28, 2011, 07:29:38 pm »
Hi, I'm new to the forum. About 6 weeks ago in November I had to stay in hospital for a few days with an infection. Doctor came 6 hours after entering the hospital to tell me that I had tested positive - got tested without being asked if I minded. At the time, I had just come out of a long-term, monogamous relationship - he was being abusive emotionally, verbally and physically. He did not know that he was positive and then I found out he had lied to me about being tested, he just assumed he was negative whereas I did get tested with the right window period and was negative. Anyway, let bygones be bygones..Three weeks after testing poz and leaving the hospital I started Atripla with a CD4 count of 60, around 12%. Doc said that I am most probably one of the 'unlucky' ones with a fast progressing virus. Scary stuff and scary times but trying to be strong and dealing with everything one day after another. Feeling lucky and thankful to have been diagnosed even at an advanced stage. Wishing everyone well for the New Year.  xx
