Would like some knowledgeable advice
« on: October 19, 2010, 04:36:38 pm »
Hi all

I would appreciate some answers on a low risk exposure.

I am a 30 year old male. On the 23rd of September, I met with a 24 year old transexual male to female pre-op. She performed oral on me with no condom (I was insertive). We had anal sex (I was insertive partner). We used a condom and lube. I checked the condom after and it was fully intact. I have never been with anyone other than women before.

I requested that she take an hiv test after our encounter to soothe my anxiety. She did so which I was extremely thanfull for. The results were negative.

What concerns me is that on Monday I came down with stomach cramps and vomiting. I am pretty much right now so it lasted a couple of days. This all happenbed 3.5 weeks post-exposure. This has got me concerned as i see vomiting is a ars symptom. I did not have any other symptoms including fever or rash.

I would love to hear your opinion as to my risk and if I should be concerned.

This is not a "low risk exposure", this is a no risk exposure.

Receiving a blow job (from anyone) is not a risk for HIV infection. Nor is protected anal sex.

HIV is transmitted via unprotected anal and vaginal sex, sharing contaminated needles and syringes and in some cases from HIV positive mother to her unborn or nursing infant.

If you are feeling ill, see a doctor. Your symptoms are not HIV related, however.

There is no need for you to be tested for HIV as a result of this sexual encounter.

Thanks Matty

I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

I wasn't worried at all until I got my stomach bug. I am usually really healthy is all and I am worried that it is too much of a coincidence tha i get sick 3.5 weeks post-exposure.

I have just been to see the nurse at the local sexual health clinic. She says that for anal sex, you need to wear extra thick condoms to be extra safe. I wear fetherlite Durex ones for extra sensitivity. I know it didn't break. Is it possible there were small holes in it though??

If the condom didn't break, you were protected. To put it politely the nurse at the SH clinic is talking through her anus.

Hi matty

I like your style.

Unfortunately it seems like there are a lot of ill-informed people out there when it comes to hiv who speak from their anus. It doesn't help my nerves though.

Cheers

Freaking,

Andy and Ann live in the Northern Hemisphere (New York City and the Isle of Man respectively) so you'll have to wait until daylight up there before expecting a response from either or both of them.

I live in Australia which is why you're hearing from me at the moment.

The Great State of New South Wales. The only part worth a shit.

Whats up?? Have I done something wrong?? I seem to only get one person willing to give me an answer on my concerns. Meanwhile everyone gets multiple different opinions stretching over many posts and many months. I just want a couple of opinions to put my situation in perspectiva and then I'll leave the forum in peace.

Cheers!

How many answers do you need to get when your issue has been well and accurately covered?

You did not have a risk for HIV. There is no need for further concern nor for testing.

Take a breath, give up all this drama and head stuff about your incident and get on with your life.

Read carefully: NO RISK! Period.
