Negative test after 22 days of possible exposure

Hello, I'm a 22 year old male. I got drunk and had vaginal intercourse with a sex worker. I know this might sound pathetic, but i had sex on the road. It was a really bad place. Paying for sex is against my principles. I can't forgive myself for paying a beautiful soul for meat. Sex lasted less than 5 minutes. She put on condoms on my penis. Actually Two condoms (i learnt that it is very risky). As soon as the sexual intercourse got over, the condom fell from my penis as soon as i lost the erection. Here i believe that i might have not used the condom right. This is the first and only ever time i had sex. This was 24 days back. a couple of days back i got severe throat infection. I went to the doc, he examined my penis and found out an infection. He is saying that its a bacterial infection (looks like thrush to me). He asked me to take a vdrl & hiv antibody(elisa) tests. I took them immediately and the results were negative. I want to know if i am in a high-risk category. I have an uncircumcised penis. I'm applying megaheal creme for that infection. The doc is saying that the infection got sexually transmitted but looks like a low grade infection. I think he might be telling me that to make me calm. Please help me out with this. Thank you.

You used protection for the vaginal sex ... so you did not have a risk for HIV  . You can count the HIV test as conclusive that you do not have HIV .

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test for this specific incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thank you for your reply I know, I used condoms. There are couple of reason why i am worried.
1. I am not sure if i used the condoms right. It fell down when i withdrew my penis. I felt the condom on my penis while withdrawing it. I just dont remember if i put them down or if it got stuck and fell down while withdrawing it.
2. The thrush kinda infection. it looks as if the skin is peeling, it looks reddish on the head shaft of my penis.

I understand now . You are concerned that you slid out of the condom when you withdrew . Leaving a condom behind when you withdraw is not a risk ... its only a risk if it comes off and has to be fished out of the vagina or rectum .

I do not think you had a risk if the condom fell from your penis but I was not there so if there is any doubt you have the choice to test for peace of mind only . You can test at 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 3 months to confirm the results if you choose to .

I really think you are being paranoid and did not have a risk .

thank you so much jeff That was my fear. I guess the guilt part will take some time to heal. This incident has become an eye opener for my life. I really want to reach out my brothers & beautiful women who are suffering from this infection. The best and the most important thing we all need is an ear that listens to what we want to speak. Hopefully someday we all will beat this unwanted & pointless stigma against all stds. I suspect phimosis as a reason for the red color peeling. But i am not a doc. So i will get tested. Thanks again
