dunno, i think we should discuss this ad nauseum.

i think it takes at least a dozen posters. i mean, we are talking about the creation of the lamp, err light bulb (lightbulb?).  wait, no, thats only to change the lightbulb.

i'll go with one. but i'm not an expert and will wait for the others to chime in. i hope we are talking about the energy saving lamps and not the old bulbs...lol.

Here's another good one...

A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car
and was pulled over by a woman police officer, who was also a blonde.

The cop asked to see the blonde's driver's license. She dug through her
purse and was getting progressively more agitated. "What does it look
like?" she finally asked.

The policewoman replied, "It's square and it has your picture on it."

The driver finally found a square mirror, looked at it and handed it to
the policewoman.

"Here it is," she said.

The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying,
"Okay, you can go.  I didn't realize you were a cop."

Total newbie here (since last Nov)... but wanted to point out that there was nothing wrong with initial bulb in the first place (slightly used and/or damaged) but basically still the same bulb it always was...perhaps the problem is with you... expecting way too much light from such a fragile thing...frankly better to not shine too much light into dark corners anyway...

Anyway thanks for the chuckle... and for shining a light on an internet wide phenomenon... too many experts, not enough humans....

Jan, we were going to add that one as a comment, but it's better coming from an actual moderator!  After that thread is locked, another poster will start another thread like "So, I'm thinking of changing a light bulb".  ;)

For sure!  I haven't' visited a motorcycle forum in years due to just that.  The last one I checked in on had more complaining about things unrelated to motorcycles such as how the queers are trying to take over and that import vehicles (and bikes) are the root of our demise!  There was very little talk about actual motorcycles.

You forgot to mention the couple of posters who will complain that they are not a part of the light bulb changing clique and are therefore leaving the forums.

Don't forget... their leaving the forums is a threat that only lasts 2-3 days.  After that, they're right back complaining about not belonging to some other clique or that the bulb-changers are ganging up on them!

If you would like information about changing LED than may I suggest you start your own thread. You may  receive more replies in reference to your particular situation.

This thread is about changing lightbulbs. Going off topic is considered hijacking and not considered good forum etiquette.

I see you're fairly new to posting here. May I suggest you read the welcome thread, if you haven't done so already.

Metaphysically speaking, are you changing the lightbulb, or is the lightbulb chaning you?

Mum

Clearly the lightbulb is changing you for it brought about in you this desire for change.  ::)

Quit trying to hijack with semantics!  See number 3 below:

change  [cheynj]   verb, changed, chang⋅ing, noun
1. to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone: to change one's name; to change one's opinion; to change the course of history.
2. to transform or convert (usually fol. by into): The witch changed the prince into a toad.
3. to substitute another or others for; exchange for something else, usually of the same kind: She changed her shoes when she got home from the office.

See, it is proper to say 'change a light bulb'.   ;)

I don't know if the bulb is actually changing me, but they do often help me see things in a different light.  I guess it's more of an influence than a change.

Why in the world would we sub contract this work out when so many of our members living with HIV are unemployed and looking for work!

Hey Dennis,

That is in itself a very good question which deserves a very good answer.  First, I need to ask if you are preparing for the clergy?

The reason I never thought to ask for a job during the past 13 years is... The Medical Staff at Catholic Healthcare West said I would never work again and I thought they meant it.  As a person living with HIV, I started applying for jobs in 1998 and 450 job applications later began to realize how many people those priests really talk to... This is bigger than the Mormons on CA Prop 8 (marriage ='s 1 man and 1 woman).

Well one person did hire me.  My friend Jack, an unemployed actor, person living with HIV and the son of one of the I Love Lucy producers.  I took some head shots and he was never hired either.

Not long ago, I was in the St. Ignatius Cathedral in San Francisco... Oddly enough, I was on a date so don't ask.  I put $2.00 in and lit 2 candles.  My date asked if I would like to talk to a priest, I chose not to.   ;D  Have the best day

It would seem to me that the lightbulb has helped the OP (David).. as he says and I quote "it has helped me see many things in a different light", so if the lightbulb is doing it's job why would we want to change it ..but most importantly of all, and I don't think anyone has thought to ask, but does the lightbulb really want to change..just saying.

I'm am dumbfounded at the brutal cruelty that I see in this thread.  Some of you should be ashamed that you would so callously change the light bulb, with no feeling whatsoever for the bulb itself.  Maybe the bulb is tired of jumping to your every whim, ie. having to illuminate itself, anytime you feel like throwing the switch, no matter what the bulb may be feeling.  How sad that you are unable to see that this poor bulb has worked its Tungsten off for you.

I agree Joe, the blant cruellty in this thread leaves me speechless

In the 1880s, the lightbulb revolutionized the world, our whole world lite up and we celebrated, but now today we are saying we can do better...shame, shame on all of us for the way we have treated this lightbulb.

So the light has dimmed a bit, so what, since when has getting old been a crime or a reason to change  something that has served us so well over the years, I'm saddened by it all and I call upon all those who care to leave the lightbulb alone, change is not always good,  certainly not in this case anyway~~sigh~~~

Hugs but in sadness

What should we do with the old one once we change it, and what exactly are we changing it into?  My ex-sister-in-law used to work in an ER and there was this one guy who thought a light bulb could light up his rectum.........  I forgot to ask if they could see the light at the end of the tunnel though... :-[

A certain nameless moderator is considering giving a certain nameless forum member a time out. No, on second thought, a vigorous spanking in a room where all the light bulbs have been removed seems more appropriate.

what sort of light bulbs are we talking about? the old ones or the new long lasting power savers, that also happen to be full of mercury... so whether they are 'green' or not is arguable. they may save us from global warming, but what are they doing to the fish in the ocean and our sperm?

Mr Steve you know the rules of the forum, the wee fishes and your sperm have nothing to do with this..don't you be starting any trouble now.

And I think Ms belle is taking the micky out of us...with that flashy thing she has going there in her avatar..look suspisiously like a light bulb to me..and one that has already been changed..I call that bulb abusive if ever I saw it.

And yes David we will have words in Boston..provided they allow me to travel in my straight jacket.

Not trying to be a denialist or anything but I credit those long lasting power savers, not the HIV meds, as being the  sole reason for my high cd4 count and my undetectable viral load.  There are many web sites that allude to this phenom....  out of respect I won't post them til I can figure out how to secretly do so..
