Title: Is it okay take atripla with fat free yoghurt?
Post by: Sera on September 17, 2012, 12:00:16 am
I have had stomach problems for many years and every time I took any kind of meds on an empty stomach,  even before I started atripla, my stomach would feel like it had acid poured onto the lining. This is happening again a couple of days a week when I take my dose  and it's the only side effect I feel is severe since the others are not too bad. So tonight I wanted to try taking the pill  with yoghurt to soothe my stomach but I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if it makes the side effects worse. Thanks.

Sera, a lot of people can eat before they take Atripla without intensifying the side-effects, so they only way you're going to know is by experimenting.

Low fat yogurt would actually be a good one to try - the higher the fat content of what you eat, the more likely you would be to experience side-effects.

If you take the yogurt and Atripla right before bed, chances are good that you'd sleep through any side-effects anyway. Good luck!

Ann, taking atripla with yoghurt is going well for me. I can't  believe the change, especially how well i am sleeping. Last night i ate some fruit an hour before i took the pill and i was fine. I am on day 12 and i think i will be fine, so i am crossing my fingers for continued good results.

Great news, Sera! I'm glad you're able to get a good night's sleep on Atripla. Long may it continue!

You started meds with a low viral load, so I've got my fingers crossed for you that you'll be UD soon and that your CD4s climb back over 200. When do you get your first set of after-starting labs done?
