Hello everyone,
I have been on this forum for the past couple of days and i have a situation that i would like to talk about. About 10 weeks ago i engaged in protected sex with a friend of a friend. I started doing doggystyle and I felt the condom break. I pulled out immediately, when i say immediately i mean immediately (less than 2 sec.). I noticed the condom was dry which means she wasn't wet and didn't have an orgasm. I sat there for about 5 min and then went and washed up. The girl says she is negative and I believe her but to a certain extent. I seen Ann and Andy write that they have yet to see an insertive with a condom break test poz, but I'm still terrified. I have had no symptoms just anxiety from worrying what if she did have something. Also I have to add I'm not circumcised.... Please What are my risks....

Hi Hov .. You are correct Ann and Andy write that they have yet to see an insertive with a condom break test poz . Its rare for a person to test positve after a condom break incident and the fact that you were the insertive partner and it was of short duration is in your favor .
We always assume the other person is poz when we do assessments but even so what you describe is a low risk incident , but not no risk . You can test at 6 weeks past the last time you had unprotected sex and again at 3 months to confirm the results . I fully expect a negative result and you should too .
Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.
If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.
Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks for ur response.... I am going to test this week just to know my status at this point. If my result is negative can i count this as conclusive???

Instead of testing at eleven weeks, you should just wait and test at twelve weeks for a solid, conclusive negative result. While an eleven week negative would not change, there's a good chance that you'll have a niggling doubt in the back of your mind. I've seen it too many times in this forum.

I've been stuck on this forum for over a week now... Im so nervous about my incident its not even funny.... What if I test poz?? My girlfriend of 6 years will be destroyed... My son will be destroyed... Please tell me what are my chances of testing poz?

Hi Hov , other than reiterating the fact that's its rare for the insertive partner to go on and test HIV positive after a condom break there isn't much more we can add .
As much as we would like to comfort you the fact is its impossible to give odds on HIV infections due to all the variables and unknowns . I think you are going to come out of this OK because all of the people who come here after a condom break go on to test negative since my tenure here... and I bet you will too .

I took a Uni Gold Recombigen test at 10.5-11.5 weeks post exposure and the result was negative.. Can i say that this is a conclusive result or should i use a different test that detects hiv-2??

Ann's answer will be the same as Jeff G's, no matter how may times you ask it.
All the guys who sit here patiently and read your stories and give you expert advise are indeed experts, so if one tells says you are HIV Negative, then you can take that to the bank, you don't need all of them to tell you the same answer.
Please read and re-read the lessons on how HIV is and is not transmitted, also read up about the tests that you do and the accuracy of the final results.
