Phildinftlaudy has returned (albeit it ever-so-slowly)
« on: June 09, 2013, 01:42:42 pm »
Well, I think that I am finally getting back to "normal." The last 60 days have been the most difficult in my life. April 3rd brother went into hospital; April 4th I left for London but had to return early due to brother's condition worsening; April 11th thru May 4th - spent everyday at ICU/hospital with my brother and mother - seeing him come back from the edge, go to the edge, come back, and than go to edge - all while I was continuing to go to work and try to complete course in my MBA program.... May 5th my brother passed away.... May 14th funeral service... May 15th thru June 3rd completed two large federal grants, worked on probate for brother's estate, made two trips to my mother's home in Ocala to move some things from my brother's house and tried to continue school....

Finally, June 8th - got to take a one-day "stay-cation" to Hollywood Beach - oceanfront room, no frills, just the sand, the waves, the palm trees, a great view and a few Coronas....

View from my room at Hotel Sheldon - Hollywood Beach (about 10 miles from my house):

Stepping away from the window a bit and here is the view (laying in bed, the view made it feel like I was laying in the sand):

The room was simple - but perfect because I didn't need anything except the view:

The waves were a bit rough today when I checked out - but the ocean breeze felt so good:

Yes, ever so slowly things are getting back to normal.
I want to thank you all for your kind words and support....
Mom and I still have some things to do at my brother's house, but we are taking it a bit more slowly and both of us are starting to feel like we are getting our footing back in life.

-Phil

Phil,
Thanks for the update.
It put a smile on my face and I'm happy to hear that you got a chance to get away for a bit. :)

Thank you for the update Jeff....
I should mention that while on my way to Ocala, I made a brief jaunt over to Frankfurt, Germany - just to see a friend and get a quicky in the bathroom at the airport..... Wouldn't you know it, I left my IPAD in the restroom by the sink while I was "handling my business" with a fine looking Nigerian who was also making his way home... I come out of the stall and my dayumm IPAD is gone.... wish there was a way of finding out who had it.....

Oh, and what is up with Ms. P and this "life of crime?" Don't tell me... She got caught stealing puppies at the flea market again?

Those are awesome photos and looks like a place to reflect and just sit back. Be good to yourself, losing someone you love is so hard, and from experience I think more difficult when it is a brother or sister.

As for the electronics, stolen or otherwise, Ann has it now.

Hey Phil;  It's good to have you, and your sense of humor back - even if it is at Ms P's expense (she can afford it now).

I am glad you are back,

Hey Phil,

Happy to see you back and I'm jealous of your little "getaway."  There is nothing like a lazy day at the beach to help recharge.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks all -
It is good to be back.
I'm actually enjoying sitting on my couch and taking some down time...
By next week, I hope to be fully back in the saddle -
And, the beach - well, I think I am going to have to make the Hotel Sheldon a regular respite spot - at least one weekend every three months.... I truly was able to put any stress away and relax.

Thanks again all!

  Hey Phil,

I've been away for a while and just saw the news regarding your brother.  You have  my sincerest condolences...  I am glad you got some time to your self on the beach.
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.
