If you could go anywhere in the world-and why?
« on: April 26, 2007, 11:30:14 pm »
I have never been outside the United States.  I would LOVE to go to Greece!  I would love to see the ruins of an ancient civilization!  My second choice would be Italy, because of the American Express card ad about a member wanting authentic Italian food and ending up in Italy.  I would like some authentic Italian food also!  We have Carabas here, but it would be nice to have the "real" thing!  I bet the Italian men are HOT too! (and the women ;).           Anyway, I was just wondering........

I would love to go to Scotland. Where the men are men and the sheep damn well know it. There are a lot of places in the US that I have never been and things I've never seen or done.

Australia and NZ.  For more reasons than I could probably list, but a few...

Beautiful countries

On the other side of the globe from me, so I would also get the experience of traveling over much of the Earth- even if just to see it from above.

A few stellar people I have met here are in those countries.

I'd like to go cage diving with Great White Sharks.

Perhaps to visit Jan's place and pet some goats and alpacas.

Australian men in speedos.

The list goes on and on...

Betty, I just went to Greece and Turkey last year... it was great.  Make sure you do a bit of Turkey too as the Roman ruins in Ephesus are a must see and easy to fit in when going to places like Rhodes. (click on my profile here and you can access my travel pictures)

Otherwise I'd really like to go to either India or Cambodia, the latter to see Angkor Wat.  Oh, and I've always wanted to go to Brazil for the saunas and the hefty logs.

Ah, Timberley it's not too different from posting in Orf Torpic. But seriously, cage diving? What are you, some sort of poofter? Real Aussie MenTM do it sans cage.

After careful consideration, I will settle for poofter.   ;)

Antarctica = the last great frontier. 300-500 metre high ice shelves, lots of great wildlife, the roaring 40's huge swells, a sense of adventure. gotta get there before the crowds. and, its the only continent i've never visited.

New York - self explanatory. greatest metropolis on earth

Sicily - all my childhood mates were from Sicily. Incredible history - Romans, Greeks and Persians. Food, hot men, Italian culture.

Lord Howe Island - world heritage listed little island in the Pacific. snorkelling, walking and relaxing.

Mississippi swamplands - dirty sex with an inbred swampboy  :P

Babe, I remember how you carried on when it dropped to 7 degrees C in Sydney a couple of years ago. How do you reckon you'd go in -60?

i know what you mean about the cold. i've never seen a frost, let alone snow, but ya rug up when you go that far south. I'd be whinging and bitching about it the whole time, don't you worry. You should see me carry on when it gets as low as 60 here  ;)

I'd love to go to Argentina, particularly Buenos Aires.

St Petersburg is another place I'd like to cross off my list.

Would like to see more of Canada, have never been to Montreal.

And New Zealand.  I hate long flights, but I know it would be worth it.

I think the following locations have very clean air, abundant oxygen & respect for nature: Amazon rain forest! (while it's still there), Hawaii, U.S. Pacific Northwest, Vancouver, NZ

Oh I think this is kind of like eco-tourism

One of my top destinations is Paris. I struggled through French in college and would like to at least try to use it. Also I want to experience the food and architecture.

Another place I want to see is Scotland. It looks like a beautiful place, my mother's family is from there and I love the way the people talk.

Betty I too would love to go to Greece (the Greek Islands too) and Italy.   And yes I understand the Italian men are HOT
unfortunately for us...they don't care much for Americans.  I'd love to see France, Ireland and England and Venice too.  Hell
I'd love to have a world tour....Imagine touching the Wailing Wall in Jerusaleum...Riding a bike atop the Great Wall of China
and
so many many other places.......... :o.

I wanna go back to Puerto Rico....I loved it there and liked tapping into my heritage....Jamaica/Virign Islands..Just because I would like to smoke some of their green and to be able to see the pretty clear water..You noticed I said see, not trying to swim with the sharks or stingrays...And finally Japan/China because I have always loved their culture....Would love to wear a kimono...

I think it's related to his other thread about losing his HIV doctor.

Danny ,

If you jump, I wll be there to cath you.
I know exactly where the end of the wolrd is :-[

Now that I am out of the black hole, please you don't go there.
The sun shines upon you and you are loved.
By many more then you know.

Love you

BettyTacy.. Aren't you quitting cigarettes?  If you smoke 2 packs a day and save that money instead of buying ciggies. In about 6 months you can afford to go to any where your heart desires...except maybe Antarctica...that could be problematic.  When I quit smoking and drinking I realized I was spending more than my mortgage every month on smokes and booze!

This brings up a question for the Americans...  how many of you don't have a passport and why the heck not?  There's a whole world out there!
I have friends that take the same trips every year to Vegas, Florida, or The Bahama's, they make comments like, "I wish I could travel like you do"  The thing is...they spend more money on their same trip to the same place year in and year out, than we do going somewhere new.  When I ask, they don't have a passport.

Well, today I don't want to jump off the edge, cause I'm feeling a little better than yesterday. So I am in a better frame of mind to really think about this so here goes...

1. Austin, Texas- A very sweet friend lives there & I would absolutely love to come visit him. ( I hope he reads this)
2. New South Wales Australia I want to meet MtD IN PERSON!
3 New Zealand I want to see Jan's farm and all those animals.
4. Winston Salem N.C.  I want to visit Lisa
5. Puerto Rico, I have always wanted to go there. I don't know why. It has always seemed like a place that I would enjoy.
6.  The boothill of Missouri, yeah it isn't that farfrom here but Blixer lives there & I want to meet him.

Lots of folks wanting to go to Australia and New Zealand. Huummm. An idea setting in my brain. A group trip to see the Great Dragon, Annie & her now famous husband & goats & alpacas, and the land down under. What would that run? About 3 or 4 grand?

P.S. In two years from today you could save $2960 for a dream destination if you just put $4.00 aside everyday. (The cost of a pack of cigarettes.)

When I travel i like to go to just a few places and stay for longish periods, living as much like a native as possible.

I've always promised myself a trip to Central Europe: Berlin, Prague, Budapest. On a seperate trip I'd love to spend time in St Petersburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

And I'd love to show Joseph the spots I love best in Barcelona and Paris. Barcelona's my favorite place on Earth.

And if i could find the money, time and right mix of medications to hazard the flight, I'd spend several months with Matty in NSW.

I want to go to Portugal to a place called the end of the world - I think it is the southern most point in Europe.  A dear friend passed earlier this year and that is where he wanted some of his ashes spread - and I want to visit it and see why he thought it was so special and to remember a special friend whom I miss.  Jim
