1st year is over

What a crazy year.  Diagnosed a year ago today.  I'm trying to cope with the fact that I don't have a job or money at the moment to pay my bills.  I'm trying to remind myself of what I have...school's out in a week and had energy the past 3 days so I think I won't have to change meds after all. We'll see....it's always up and down with moods and energy lately.  Thanks to all for the support this first year.

edited to add: oh and who needs good credit anyway? Not like i'm buying a house or a car. *sigh*

I feel your pain, I found out my status a year ago last Dec. and things seem to get deeper and deeper.

I'm sorry to hear that things have been going so roughly for you (both).  I think emotionally the first year can be the hardest.  Even if you tell yourself you have completely accepted what you have found out you still don't want to believe it.

The great thing about this site is that you can see other people who are going through the same thing you.  I think more importantly though, you can see people who have lived with this for a very long time and are still here and living happy, healthy and productive lives.

Hi Shadow- definitely the first year is the roughest.   Appears to me you got through another year of school, no?  Get it done, get a good career that you enjoy (with health insurance).  Your credit can be repaired with diligence and time.  Houses are huge money pits sometimes! 

I'm glad you've had some energy lately, and I hope that continues for you so you can enjoy the summer, and get on with living life~

That's 4 days with no energy slump.  Taking ALL the viramune at night really effed me up.  Twice a day dosing isn't so bad.

I'm getting my BA in Dance this Fall 2008! I have two more classes. Dont know what a dance degree will bring me but I'm hoping to find a job soon so I don't have to escort again.  Good times!
Health insurance would be good! Thank god for ADAP and Ryan white.  I made $2,000 last year so I'm thinking of getting a tattoo that says "I heart ADAP."

I just read your post and wanted to say congratulations on your degree. Its really more important than your HIV anniversary.

If you concentrate on doing something with the degree / career/ job, then I think everything will fall into place for you.  Dont be shy about auditioning for things not totally dance related.
( An example from a Long {read old} Timer:  about 30 years ago a young man who had just goten his degree in dance from a well respected but isolated college of the performing arts, moved to New York City. He got a low paying job dancing with one of the better known dance companies ( I think Martha Graham).  He lived in old tenement housing with other poor starving artists and shared rent with them.  One day he auditioned for a job with a group about to be formed called THE VILLAGE PEOPLE and the rest became history.  Though not trained as a singer he had the "stuff" to be a performer on stage.  He still makes a comfortable living from being one of the "original"  VILLAGE PEOPLE.)

I knew an USAF pilot whose degree was in dance. (his BA, which got him in the AF) He later got his masters in Aerospace Engineering. So anything can Happen. This guy was flying Fighter Bomber Aircraft defending the country. By now he has retired, As this was in the mid 80's

congrats on completing another year of your life! also, school is tough, good job hanging in there, lord knows i've seriously contemplated dropping out every week for the past 2 quarters.

in response to your edit - a lot of people need good credit. i hope you are being facetious. i struggle with my credit on a regular basis. i am up to my eyeballs in debt so don't sweat it. if your credit score is fucked, fix it or don't stress it. im sure one day, if you desire, you'll purchase whatever you'll need credit for!!! HOPEFULLY, by then both of us will be significantly well off and we'll be able to purchase all or our shit with straight up cash!!! but outside the material shit, i hope your life is still sweet at times : )

Well my credit is bad bad and i have a lot of debt. But my parents bought me a new car last year since some biatch hit me.   Thanks for the sweet response. I hope you get yourself out of debt!

Good Luck on the 1 Year. June 8 is my "birthday" for diagnosis (and just a little over 2 since the seroconversion). Started my treatment with VL of 1.82 Million (yes, million) and CD-4 of 186, not to mention bronchial drama, staph infections, etc. Thanks to my 'lovely' cocktail of Kaletra/Truvada, am now nearly undetectable (VL of 97) and CD-4 hovering around 400.

Sorry to hear about the rather stagnant financial stuff. It's tough. I remember those days. Now, fortunately, after a lot of hard work, I'm fairly "comfortable", with the exception of needing to change jobs but stay for the insurance (not to mention the acceptance of a small town local government of my status).

Just hang in there. Life will be better!
