My bad Ann. I forgot to say that I got my meds on Saturday. :-[ One bottle of Truvada and one bottle of Isentress. Today I received 3 more bottles of Truvada!!! WUT? A bill came with the shipment so I had to spend yet another hour trying to straighten it out with Acreedo. Seems like they have no record of shipping me the single bottle of Truvada. Guess they were having a sale. Buy 3 get one free. ::)

I'm once again on hold with Anthem to make sure that things are squared away. I called the customer service number on the back of the card for my new ACA plan. It took 1 hour 15 minutes only to talk to a representative that said she couldn't help me with anything regarding ACA plans. WTF? She then transferred me and I get the same exact prompts as the first call. UGH!!! Still waiting. If this call leads me nowhere once again I will give up for today.

Unfuckingbelievable.

Due to the kindness of another member my mind has been put on ease for months to come. Extra meds because of a regime change are being sent my way.
I can not thank this person enough!!  :)

regime

regimen, not "regime"  :P ;)

I would have sent you pills ages ago if we were on the same REGIMEN though I can't remember what you are on.

ps: I was just on hold with a medical bureaucracy for 45 minutes. PRAISE!

Update.

So here is the riddle:
Q. When is a mail order pharmacy not considered a mail order pharmacy?
A. When it's called a specialty pharmacy.

I received that answer from the State Insurance Commissioner's office in regards to my complaint about the CT statute that states insurance companies can not force their customers to buy meds from a mail order pharmacy.

Really?

She said that this had been looked into before and their attorneys said the loophole is legal.

Really?

Makes the law rather useless.

Anyway, my new ACA policy only covers my meds through "in network" pharmacies and apparently the only "in network" pharmacy for my hiv meds is Acreedo. If I were to go out of network the total cost would be mine.

I'm sure most insurance companies are using this strategy.

Oh well, hopefully in a few more months I will be approved for SSDI and can kiss Acreedo goodbye for good.

Just another vent.

For those of you who are happy with your mail order, excuse me, "Specialty" Pharmacy, I am happy for you but I hope you don't ever have to deal with Acreedo.

I got a letter in the mail today saying that my account for home delivery has been put on hold due to a past due invoice of over 30 days. This was my deductible that I repeatedly told them to bill ADAP for but they didn't until now. I think I got them to finally understand but the conversation left me speechless.

I expressed my frustration in a kind and rational manner of how much time and effort it takes me in every aspect with them and said that I wished I had other alternatives. The woman's reply was "Well, you know there is no law saying you have to get your meds from us." to which I replied " Going out of network would force me to pay $30,000. anywhere else.".

Her reply back... " I was just trying to explain your options."

Thought I would give it ONE shot before passing this problem over to my ASO. What a mistake! lol.

Anyway, she claimed that her comment was made out of professionalism. I'm thinking she and the entire company have no idea what that term even means.

End rant.

What a nightmare!  It's hard to stay sane sometimes in the face of total and complete ignorance and aggravating remarks.  Please let your case manager deal with this from now on.  I know it's hard when one's used to doing things him/herself, but that's what you signed up for.  You don't need all that stress, M.

This is just awful.  Accredo continually tries to fill my script early.  I'm sitting on a 2-3 month surplus of complera at this point because they keep calling me trying to send me more.  They haven't had an issue processing the copay assistance but I haven't used ADAP for meds since I've been using Curascript/Accredo.

I hate to keep digging up this thread but just wanted you all to know that life with Acreedo has NOT improved. Since last November I've had one, maybe two months without a glitch.

This month's saga:

Called in prescription. Asked when the soonest date that Anthem would cover it. Was told the 25th. It was scheduled to ship on the 25th, arriving on the 26th. No meds.

Got a call from them on the 26th saying it was too early to refill. The "correct" date that Anthem will cover it is the 27th. (Sunday) So... new scheduled ship date was Monday the 28th to arrive today. No meds.

Got a call this afternoon saying the delay was their error. Wow! First time ever that they admitted screwing up. It's supposed to ship out today and arrive tomorrow.

Meanwhile she says my "exhaust date" will be August 27th, so I should not call before then. WTF! She wants me to call in my refill at the last minute? lol.

I do have plenty of backup supply due to their error for one med and a members kindness on my other med so I'm not frantic, just royally pissed at the continuous insanity.

Heads up folks! Avoid Acreedo if you have ANY other options.

Oh, another month another 3 hours on the phone.

My doc sent in a new script last Monday for a new med (Intelence) that I've been anxious to start due to sleep issues. I'll forgo the details other than to say that had I not called the script would never have arrived.

I'm not doing the monkey dance yet because I still don't have a delivery date set up after being on a FOUR WAY conversation with Anthem, Acreedo, my nurse, and myself.

It's been 9 days so far and it sounds like it will be at least 3-5 more days IF all goes well before I hold them pills in my hand. *sigh*

It actually was kinda fun holding the Acreedo reps feet to the fire in front of an audience though I doubt it will make any difference.

Thanks for listening to my saga again. Damn, I just wish I had an extra $30,000 a year to avoid this mess. lol.

I had an Anthem Blue-Cross Blue Shield plan for 6 months through my state exchange.  After the first refill at my local pharmacy, they required my ARV's specialty drugs be filled by Acredo/Express Scripts.

The problem began because they require payment before shipping medications over $100 and they don't work the Rx system used by states ADAP program to process claims.  So, the work-around was the states ADAP program had to get a credit card used specifically for only paying Acredo/Express Scripts claims upfront, typically days prior to the beginning of the month to assure continuity in timely filling of prescription orders.

Acredo/Express Scripts does accept co-payment programs, but they make it really difficult for them to process claims vs other mail order pharmacies.

What pissed me off more than anything was that the Acredo would only fill my ARV's monthly instead of a 3 month supply, so they could get a rebate from the drug manufacturers.  If you are required to use mail order, they should give you 3 months supply, like all other non-specialty medications to avoid shipping delays/errors which might cause a patient to miss does of medications.

Mail order is @ss, no doubt about it.  I have another insurance plan now, getting ready for my first fill  and very curious if they won't also require me to use mail order.

Can't wait to get to Medicare said no one ever.

Unfortunately  I have had many of the  same issues.... with this  group of  companies... they have  deliberately  divided  the "specialty meds" into a seperate  groups  so  that  the  negotiations for the  supply  at  wholesale  prices  is not included in the  whole  business   and can be individually  worked  with each  supplier.  this allows them to  add all sorts of  "special  handling  and costs"  to their  justification for  higher charges to the  customer ..... the  phone  system  for these  "companies "  are all the  same  system  if you call  Expressscripts  to inquire  about an order  they  will  quickly  (  after the  BS  automated  systems  lets you talk to  someone) tell you that  your  meds are  "assigned"  to  Accredo  and  put into  the  next  automated  goat rope to  talk to  Accredo...  who  will  quiz you for all the  same info  you already  provided  before  answer any  question
The  3 month  supply  rule  is a requirement of the original  Insurer  (  Medicare, US Gomnt,  Military(TRICARE)   and other insurers..... but the  "specialty meds"  are  exempt  from this  requirement   so this  company  understands the  rules  and  stretches  the limits  of  plausibilty  to include  whatever they can get  away  with   and  created a seperate  company  for  this purpose  so  you only  get  30  days at a time  instead of  90.   there is  no  published  criteria  for "specialty"  that I have been able to  find  and  Accredo  couldnt/wouldnt  tell me what their  criteria  were.  after  many  months of the  same issues  others have iput out here  my  supply  has become  pretty  regular  but  constantly  dealing with  automated systems and  non -answers  to  specific  questions  is  very  draining

typically  told  that a shipment  to arrive on a  certain day...no  shows..  then findout  why (  telephone tag..automated  response  goat rope (out of  sock,  missed the  day  shipment, need  DR  approval  first(  rarely actually required) the list  of  excuses seems  to always be  (  not  my problem)  somebody  else  screwed up  not  us

so  we  lumber on  but take it as sort perverse  entertainment to  hear  what the issue  will be  next time   long  time ago  a  wise  person  told me to  be sure to  write  down  any  excuse  you hear  that  doesnt add up  to   "not my job" "ask him/her"  " I  dont know"  because  that will probably  the  only   one you will accept

Multiple times I've gotten Accredo to send me a 90 day supply.  Just make absolutely certain your doctor writes the script for 90 day supplies.  The operators I deal with at Accredo always have some trouble dealing with 90 day supply written being translated into 30 day rx fills.
