Whoopsy I forgot to order meds.
« on: October 24, 2011, 08:50:16 am »
Got a question for you guys

With picking up a second job and getting over Mark :'(   I totally forgot to order my meds until I took my night time ones last night and went oh hell.  :(

Yes I did order them over the phone last night.

I took my last Truvada this morning, it will take 4 days for my meds to come in so I won't have them until Thursday.   I still have 1 week of Isentress, Bactrim and Zithromax left, so it's just the Truvada that I'm worried about.   Can I take Isentress without the Truvada?  What is this going to do to my CD4?  or worse yet will my body decide after 3 days of no truvada that it wants a different pill. ???   I like my T/I combo and don't want to change.  :)

Oh yea this is after my doctor told me last week that he was proud of me for doing the AIDS Walk,  taking my meds on a regular basis and for not having to many fits about my CD4 just taking it's good ole time in getting to 100. I finally hit 80  :)   I gave up on hitting 200, I'm now aiming for 100.  But getting my tattoo when I do hit 200 no matter how much it hurts.

Apparently I like smiley faces today.  After seeing Marks bike yesterday on way home from work I need all the smiley faces I can get.

Thanx guys,

Klassy,

Call and see if your doctor has any samples to get you by.

Not sure where you order, but you should be able to have them over-nighted.  Contact them and see if that's an option.  Best wishes.

If you can't get any Truvada, you may want to seek advise on whether you should continue to take the Isentress without the Truvada. Someone like Newt would be better able to speak to this but in some cases, I know it is better to stop ALL HIV meds than to take one without the other.

Can I take Isentress without the Truvada?

Better to take nothing.

A week off meds shouldn't be serious on this combo. specifically very low risk of resistance, if your viral load is 50 or less it'll take at least 5 days for the HIV to wake up too.

Taking Isentress on its own has a high risk of resistance.

Certain aspects of treatment being successful are sometimes up to you, ie logistics. The favour to yourself is yours to do next time. << get off your soapbox matt

Agree it's worth a call to your doc to see what is in the cupboard, what he can do with the pharmacy etc.

Thanx guys,

I got some from my ASO.

Yes I get it locally.  They only keep one bottle of each on hand.  It's not "popular" enough of a drug and they don't want to get stuck with a couple thousand of dollars of pills in stock if no one needs it.  I talked to pharmacy and since I have been going there for more then 6 months they will keep some more in stock.

Insurance does not allow mail order, I checked on this when I first started taking them.  I also found out it only allows 6 prescriptions per month.  I think I'm going to see what other plans are available to me.

Chalked it up to a lesson learned and to pay better attention.
