I think this is a great way of using untapped computing power to perform
research that tries to answer some very complex questions and potentially
solve some very complex problems that are health-related.  Medical
and life sciences research does take an enormous amount of computing
power, and the fact is that most of the time your personal computer is
sitting there idle.  Why not put your unused computing power to good use?

I've been a member of the World Community Grid since its inception.
In my experience, it does not interfere with normal operation of my
PC.  You have control over when it runs (e.g., only when the screensaver
pops up) and how much disk space it uses, type of network connection.
I've never known it to be a bandwidth hog.
