Handjob, precum, and possible papercut!
« on: April 19, 2010, 04:25:55 pm »
Hello. About a year ago, I gave a gentleman a handjob who's HIV status is unknown and I later found out that he was bisexual and might have had multiple partners at the time that I did it. He didn't ejaculate on my hands but there might have been precum(I used lotion for lubrication so I'm not sure if there was or not) which I've read does carry a significant amount of the HIV virus, and I might have had papercuts(can't remember). Can you please evaluate my risk for HIV? Should I go get tested? I've been freaking out and I just need peace of mind.

You have been worrying needlessly about that incident. HIV is a fragile virus. It is not transmitted through masturbation no matter what variations you throw into the mix about nicks, cuts and such. No risk. Period.

What you need to know is that the only confirmed risks sexually for HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as condoms are used consistently and without exception for those activities you will be well protected against the sexual transmission of HIV.

Regarding your incident there is no need for further concern nor for testing.

Cheers.

Thank God! You don't know what reading you post means to me! I've been so worried and my friends and family keep telling me I'm overreacting but I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Again, I want to thank you for putting my fears to rest!

HIV from sex toy?
« Reply #4 on: July 30, 2011, 11:01:22 am »
Hello, I just wanted to say that I appreciate everything you guys do. You don't know how many times my fears have been put to rest by you guys. Here's my story:

I recently bought a vibrating dildo from a sex store since I'm afraid of transmission from actual intercourse with a human being. After much deliberation, I ended up buying one that was made out of TPR which I didn't know was porous and could not be sterilized. When I first got it home I wiped it thoroughly with Clorox Wipes(which I did not know that they don't contain bleach or even alcohol) then washed it with Yardley soap which is not  antibacterial. So in essence, I guess I really didn't even clean it like I thought(angry with myself for not knowing). It dried and i didn't use it until about 4 or 5 hours later which it was stored wrapped in a towel between then. Right after using it, the thought hit me, what if someone used it before me that was HIV positive and returned it and that i had just inserted it in my vagina which is a primary place for the virus to invade. I've been worried senseless and its been 5 weeks. The thoughts of me contracting the virus have been very debilitating and have completely consumed my life. I even called the sex store to ask about the return policy and was told that when they do get returns which they rarely accept, they are discarded. Do you think I should get tested. And I do apologize if this is too long too read. Thanks for all your help.

I've merged your threads here. In the future please follow our rule and keep any further entries in this same thread.

As for your latest concern, once again you are worrying needlessly. HIV is a very fragile virus and is not transmitted via environmental surfaces including sex toys, (even used ones), doorknobs, foods, dishware and such. Even if an HIV+ person had used the dildo or sex toy, the virus becomes non-viable when exposed to the air.

Sexually the only confirmed means of transmission are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. As long as you consistently use condoms for those activities you will be well protected.

There is no need for testing nor for further concern on your part.
