The Use of Statins to Lower cholesterol...Are they worth it?
« on: August 10, 2010, 04:55:29 am »
I just
read an article that made me sick, because I had all of the following side effects when I took them
•An increased risk of polyneuropathy (nerve damage that causes pain in the hands and feet and trouble walking)
•Dizziness
•Cognitive impairment, including memory loss[xiv]
•A potential increased risk of cancer[xv]
•Decreased function of the immune system[xvi]
•Depression
•Liver problems, including a potential increase in liver enzymes (so people taking statins must be regularly monitored for normal liver function)
And recently a possible association was found between statins and an increased risk of Lou Gehrig's disease.[xvii]

Other cholesterol-lowering drugs besides statins also have side effects, most notably muscle pain and weakness.

I think anyone taking statins should talk to their DR immediately. The rest of this amazing eye opening article can be read at DR. Mecola.com. Wow, amazing stuff!
Positive since 1985

Mercola runs sites that host a variety of denialist information, both HIV denailism and with respect to other aspects of modern medicine.  He is an osteopath, not an M.D. and does not believe in evience from clinical trials (he asserts they are all biased by PHARMA).
