Blue,

People who are termed LTNPs test positive at the usual time - the average of which is 22 DAYS after infection has taken place. It simply means that they go for decades without progressing to an aids diagnosis.

Nobody takes more than six months. The only people who MAY take more than three months are people on chemotherapy for cancer, anti-rejection drugs following organ transplant and people who have been injecting street drugs, every day of the week, for YEARS. I trust you don't fall into any of those categories.

Dave,

Matty the Damned does know what the "symptoms" of ARS are, but he's not gonna discuss them with you, because:

1. We don't do symptoms here and;

2. He's nursing a badly broken arm, is in a lot of pain and really isn't up to it.

The other AM experts will handle your questions more than adequately.

Best wishes,

Dave,

Symptoms, or even the lack of symptoms, mean nothing when it comes to hiv infection. We don't discuss them here for that reason.

You're more likely to wake up next to Paris Hilton and have her think you were so good that she gives you all of her fortune/inheritance than you are to go on to test positive after your nine week negative.

Dave,

It doesn't matter. A 12 week test is as good as a 13 week one. In most of the developed world the official window period is 12 weeks.

The CDC is overly conservative. A 12 week test will be fine Dave.

Dave,

You are conclusively hiv negative. Please make sure you use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will continue to avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

If you haven't already read through the three condom and lube links in my signature line, get reading.

See Dave? A conclusive negative result just as we predicted. As Ann notes your result is conclusive and you can now move on confident in the knowledge that you are not HIV positive.

Dave,

I removed your thread from the Off Topic forum and merged it into your thread here in Am I Infected.

Why? Because for a start, the Off Topic forum is just that, Off Topic - off the topic of hiv. Your question is related to hiv testing and therefore belongs in this forum.

If you want more information on testing, then you should read the Testing Lesson - it's linked to in the Welcome Thread, which you should have read by now.

Dave,

There is no special strand/strain/subtype of HIV which takes longer than 12 weeks to cause seroconversion.

You've allowed your fears to override your common sense. You know that your 12 week test result was a conclusive negative and that you don't have HIV. We've been through this endlessly with you.

You need to stop searching the internet for information about a disease that you simply don't have. If you're having trouble believing that you are in fact HIV negative then you should seek the support of a mental health professional. We are simply not able to provide you with the counseling support that you need.

Seriously, do this for yourself. Contact your doctor and ask for a referral to a suitable mental health worker.

Dave,

I want you to listen to me carefully.

Getting these sorts of head problems dealt with can be a bit of a lengthy process. You need to find one good therapist and work with him/her in a consistent way. It can take time, but ultimately it will be worth it.

When I said that we really can't help you with these things, I meant it. We're an HIV/AIDS outfit, not a counseling operation. For people in your situation, continued involvement here can be detrimental to your head-health in the long run.

Which is why our Moderators have the time-out option at their disposal. If you read our posting guidelines in the Welcome Thread, you note that people who post continually about non-risk stuff or after a conclusive negative result get given a time out. It's not a punishment, rather it's to assist them in getting the face-to-face help that they need.

Don't let it get to that stage, Dave. Do something constructive for yourself before a Moderator times you out. Go back to your shrink or find a new one and get your fears and insecurities about sex and HIV sorted out. You're a decent fellow and you owe it to yourself to fix this up.

Kind regards,

MtD

You don't have HIV so your dermatofibroma is unrelated to HIV. Seek help from a mental health professional and get over your unwarranted worries.

A dermatofibroma is also sometimes called a fibrous histiocytoma. It is due to a non-cancerous growth of dermal dendritic histiocyte cells. The cause is unknown but in some cases it arises at the site of a minor injury, especially an insect bite or thorn prick.

Dave,

Your skin thing has nothing to do with hiv because you don't HAVE hiv, remember? You've conclusively tested negative not once, but twice.

You will not be permitted to use this site to continually question your negative hiv status every time you feel a lump, bump or sniffle. If you cannot accept your hiv negative status, then perhaps it's time you started working with a therapist to learn how to deal with your anxieties. This forum is not the appropriate place for you to work through this head stuff.

You will be given a time out if you insist on coming back here to question your status. You are hiv negative - use condoms and you'll stay that way. It's time you got on with your life.
