WHOOOO HOOOO...Mom passed the test!
« on: September 04, 2008, 01:12:23 pm »
My mom started a new job in January working for "The State" as a surveyor.  At first she was very worried and nervous, starting a new job at her age (she's only 58! 57 at the time) but I kept telling her she can do anything - she's a mom! Well, after months of training and several training conferences in Austin, Houston, San Diego, Rode Island (she loved the free trips) she had to take "the test" to become certified. She took the 4 hour test last week and just found out yesterday she passed!
So she can now go by herself and check nursing homes, foster homes and adult day care centers to see if they meet State requirements and officially cite them if they don't.
She has mentioned she loves "the power" she has when she walks into any of those places. Everyone is always nervous and ask if she's comfortable and if there is anything she needs to just ask anyone and they'll get it.

I'm very proud of her!

It's Friday, so I'm going to take my mom out for some drinks to celebrate!

Ronnie - she might travel out of state for conferences and sometimes travel to different cities to work, when a company is short staffed they'll ask for volunteers to go and help out.  Since she loves to travel, I'm sure she'll be the first to volunteer!
