9 months on meds, update on insurance
« on: May 09, 2010, 02:13:05 pm »
Just got another test and Atripla is apparently working for me.  Started in September and got to UD quickly.  Liver, kidney function, etc all normal.  CD4 seems to be stable around 600.  I take it in the morning when I wake up.  I don't have any noticable side effects.  I only get worked up over HIV when my next doc appts approach.

My biggest problem was paying for it as I discovered quickly that my med coverage was capped at $5000.  Well after much poking around, I find that in New York State, if you have some kind of existing health insurance, then you can switch to a different company and they can't dent coverage due to existing conditions.  So I'm in the midst of getting a better policy....it is more expensive but still cheap compared to having to pay for atripla.

Thanks ro the people here for on these boards for all your support.  It is a big help.
