Frank Ocean <3
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:30:05 pm »
frank ocean is a 25 years old rnb musician. music is not exactly my type but i love old stuff like stevie wonder, and he does it great.

for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Ocean

he comes from rap and rnb genre, and makes quite emotional music. and finally he made a song about his love to a boy. and people start to talk about his sexual orientation. and he suddenly made something, not so many black rap oriented musician didn't. he wrote an open letter about his first love being a man. and the letter was so great, he was like a poet.

for letter (suggested): http://rapdose.com/2012/07/04/frank-ocean-is-gay-comes-out-the-closet-in-letter-to-fans

also he made one of the best albums of the year, which has 5 grammy nominations now. i think he is quite a gem. good singing, excellent lyrics and honest music. he might be one of the best gay musicians in USA now.

for some examples:
live from saturday night live, very great song "thinking about you"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNBD4OFF8cc&list=ALYL4kY05133plfo0uYMIfVeOvGKLUzZS1

his most obvious song about loving another man: bad religion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqkYW_vcyPw&list=ALYL4kY05133plfo0uYMIfVeOvGKLUzZS1

and this one is about cleopatra, old egyptian queen. song is about her, also about a stripper called cleopatra works in a night club. one of his best stories: pyramids
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s26qTrH2atA&list=ALYL4kY05133plfo0uYMIfVeOvGKLUzZS1

well, i loved him very much, so i wanted to share who might like some good oldschool rnb tunes. i hope he won all his grammies :) he is kinda my inspiration at the moment. if there is any fans as well, please raise your hand.

Yes, he's very good.  I actually had a friend over for dinner on Thursday and we listened to him and drank red wine.  Yum.

I had not heard of Frank Ocean until recently when I saw him on Saturday Night Live.  I think Seth McPherson who was terrific was the host and Frank Ocean and his band performed.  He was very good and they did very well as the musical guests.  Kudos to this young man for coming out and raising awareness inside and outside his community.

he really deserves lots of points from his coming out of closet. homophobic rap scene rally shocked because he is talented and made great album. some of them already said "it is ok him begin gay because he makes good music" so i think he really raised awareness between black music scene.
